There’s
been a lot of buzz about our expansion plan, including this summer’s
installation of a NEW Chair 2! For those of us who love (and live) to play
outside, progress like this is exciting. Because you value responsible
coexistence with nature, they would like to make you a part of a conversation
regarding the future of outdoor recreation in Lee Canyon.
A
portion of Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard’s acreage is being proposed for a
Critical Habitat Designation without exemption. Click here for more information
-www.fws.gov/nevada/nv_species/mcb_butterfly.html. With this designation, certain parts of their expansion plan will be difficult to accomplish.
Designs for expanded winter trails and for the addition of downhill
mountain biking will be impossible to execute. While these plans have been a
part of our overall expansion plan, the Critical Habitat Designation supersedes
any such plans and forgoes possibilities of recreation expansion. As supporters
of outdoor recreation, Lee Canyon and Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort, we
invite you to learn more about the facts and voice your opinion of this very
delicate situation.
Please attend a public meeting regarding land designation
scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. (Pacific Time) at the
Interagency Building, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89130.
It’s
important to bring the local outdoor community together so that we can have our
voice heard and explain that we are united in responsible coexistence with
nature. They hope to see you there.
If
you haven’t visited us them year, there’s still time to escape the heat and
enjoy LVSSR’s summer season. They are open until Labor Day, Monday September 1.
