On
Friday, July 25, Sands Cares, the global social responsibility initiative of
Las Vegas Sands Corporation, The Venetian, The Palazzo and Sands Expo, gave
back to the Las Vegas community in a unique way. The property offered up
tickets for their employees to Friday night’s Las Vegas 51s baseball game
against the Salt Lake City Bees with all proceeds going to the non-profit group
The Shade Tree. The property’s $3,645 donation was paired by a Sands Cares
donation of $10,000 resulting in a total of $13,645 raised on behalf of The
Shade Tree. In addition, Venetian and Palazzo donated 16 cases of toiletries,
to meet a need at the shelter.
The
Shade Tree is a non-profit organization working towards providing shelter to
homeless and abused women and children in crisis. They work diligently to
provide those they assist with life-changing services that promote stability,
dignity, and self-reliance. The Shade Tree shelter currently services 300 women
and children, providing them with emergency shelter, housing assistance, life
skills training, and medical care.
“We
are thrilled to be able to support such a great organization benefiting members
of the Las Vegas community, while also giving back to our team members”, shared
John Caparella, President and COO of The Venetian, The Palazzo and Sands Expo.
The
first pitch was thrown by Venetian and Palazzo team member Paul Schilling along
with mascot Vincenzo.
