The
Western World doesn’t just encompass the west…it’s more about living fast,
being reckless and having fun while kicking and throwing punches as life
comes…” – Rusty Maples
After
a huge start to 2014, Las Vegas-based foursome Rusty Maples continues to
cultivate the musical landscape with the release of The Western World. The band
invites fans to celebrate the release on Friday, August 15, 9 p.m. at Velveteen
Rabbit, 1218 S. Main Street, Las Vegas. The Western World will be available
digitally beginning Tuesday, August 19.
Rusty
Maples’ Americana-folk-rock sound comes to life on the 6-track EP which was
produced by Minus the Bear’s Alex Rose who also lent his skills on the keys.
Recorded in Las Vegas and Seattle, The Western World features tracks that toy
with themes centered around life lessons and the experiences that shape our
world – from a toe-tapping love letter to Las Vegas DUI checkpoints in “Rascal”
and a housewife’s downward spiral into depression while in the public eye in
the haunting “Mausoleums” to the simplicity of “Razor,” a tune about personal
transformation…well, shaving and shedding some extra pounds, a song that brings
the EP to a masterful close. The tracks effortlessly carry the spirit fans have
come to love from the well-crafted blend of tender lyrics and energetic, good
lovin’ rock ‘n roll that is Rusty Maples.
Rusty
Maples is Blair Dewane (lead vocals, guitar), Ian Dewane (lead guitar, vocals),
Mike Weller (bass guitar, vocals) and Max Plenke (percussion). All songs on The
Western World written by Rusty Maples.
