Downtown
Las Vegas has gone to the dogs…hot dogs that is! Today, July 23 American Coney Island, home of the
original Coney Dog, invites guests to venture to the D Las Vegas to celebrate
National Hot Dog Day.
With
locations in both Las Vegas and Detroit, American Coney Island has become one
of America’s most celebrated hot dog destinations. Founder Gust Keros coined
the phrase “Coney Dog” and introduced the now legendary treat to the city of
Detroit in 1917. American Coney Island eventually found a second home in Sin
City, opening at the D in 2012 and bringing a little Detroit flavor to Downtown
Las Vegas.
A
true Coney Dog starts with a high-quality, specially seasoned, natural-casing
Dearborn sausage brand hotdog. It is topped with the Keros family secret recipe
Coney Island Chili Sauce, fine mustard and sweet chopped onions and served in a
warm steamed bun.
Making
a name for itself from coast to coast, American Coney Island has been featured
on The Today Show, Iron Chef Michael Symon’s “Food Feuds” on the Food Network
and The Travel Channel’s “Food Wars.”
