Sami
Ladeki is celebrating 25 years of combining globally-inspired cuisine with
locally-produced ingredients at Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza this summer by
introducing a variety of social media promotions at his 19 current Sammy’s
locations throughout Southern California and Nevada. Ladeki, who opened the
first Sammy’s in La Jolla, Calif., in 1989, was recently named ‘Restaurateur of
the Year’ by the California Restaurant Association (CRA) San Diego chapter in
honor of the milestone.
“I’ve
always operated with the premise that food is like fashion; you shouldn’t sit
still or you might find yourself out of style,” said Ladeki owner and founder
of the popular restaurants. “Our restaurant concepts have constantly evolved in
the past 25 years, and we’ve been able to build strong clientele by keeping the
favorites while adding new dishes. Now, I hear all the time about people who
have grown up with Sammy’s. I smile every time someone tells me that, because
our restaurants have grown with our guests.”
The
summer social media celebration launched at the beginning of June with the “25
Days of Sammy’s” promotion. The first Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza Facebook fan to
correctly answer the daily trivia question on www.facebook.com/SammysWoodfiredPizza will win prizes ranging from a $25 Sammy’s certificate to admission for two to
Roppongi Restaurant & Sushi Bar’s monthly Sushi School.
The
festivities will continue into July with “Messy Memories,” a photo-sharing
contest that will run on the restaurant’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
accounts. Fans are encouraged to share
photos to www.twitter.com/SammysWPizza, www.instagram.com/SammysWPizza and www.facebook.com/SammysWoodfiredPizza that feature Sammy’s signature Messy Sundae® and
highlight their memories associated with the iconic dessert. Up to 10 winners
will be selected each week to receive a $25 Sammy’s certificate and have their
photo featured on sammyspizza.com.
The
anniversary celebration culminates in August as one lucky fan will win a trip
for two to Napa Valley, Calif. as part of a VIP wine tasting experience. The
package will include airfare, a two-night hotel stay, VIP winery tours, deluxe
meals and more. Fans age 21 and older may enter beginning Friday, Aug. 1, at
www.facebook.com/sammyswpizza.
Ladeki
has announced the opening of his 20th Sammy’s location in July with Sammy’s
Restaurant + Bar at the new Stones Gambling Hall outside Sacramento, Calif. He
is looking forward to expanding the brand to a new market in Northern
California with a 5,000-square-foot eatery similar in layout to Sammy’s
Restaurant & Bar in Henderson, Nev. This concept is the future of the brand
and represents the evolution of the menu expanding beyond pizzas, featuring
items such as grilled Hawaiian mahi tacos, kung pao calamari and seafood
cioppino with shrimp, clams, scallops and fish filet in a spicy tomato broth.
Ladeki,
owner of Ladeki Restaurant Group, was born in Lebanon and has opened more than
35 restaurants and fine-dining concepts around the world since 1983. He was
honored with the ‘Restaurateur of the Year’ award by the CRA at the 30th annual
Gold Medallion Awards on Tuesday, June 3. San Diego mayor, Kevin Faulconer,
also declared June 3 to be Sami Ladeki Day in honor of his milestone
achievement. Recognized for both his
business and philanthropic dexterity, Ladeki was previously presented with the
prestigious Headliner Award by the San Diego Press Club in recognition of
outstanding achievement to the community in 2012.
