International
superstar Chris Tucker, who just returned from the 2014 Cannes Film Festival,
hit the stage at The Pearl inside Palms Casino Resort Saturday night with a
flurry of dance moves which had the crowd cheering wildly. Where most comedians
just walk on stage, Tucker arrived in style with fog and special lighting which
followed an introduction video to a comedian that really needs no true
introduction. The video was a compilation of clips from Tucker’s past movies –
to see the comedian in a breadth of roles from Friday (1995) and Fifth Element
(1997) to Silver Linings Playbook (2012) - really got the crowd excited for
that night’s show. Tucker even used some of those past references in his
material explaining that people ask him all the time if he will reprise his
role as Smokey in another Friday movie and he joked that he never even got paid
for the first one - “Cube paid me in CDs and weed.” He even talked about his
Rush Hour franchise (1998, 2001, 2007)
co-star Jackie Chan, telling the crowd that Chan “gets on my damn nerves”
because he calls him collect from Hong Kong just to be funny. Although he made
no mention of it, it’s rumored that Tucker and Chan are going to be working on
a Rush Hour 4.
Opener
Terry Hodges, who’s often on tour with Tucker, strayed from part of his normal
routine to do some crowd work as audience members were arriving a little
fashionably late to the show, which kicked off a night of great comedy.
