Acclaimed TV personality and longtime Las Vegas resident, Jimmy Kimmel, partnered with University of Las Vegas, Nevada Runnin’ Rebels Head Coach Dave Rice and his wife, Mindy, to host the third annual “An Evening with Dave Rice” gala May 17th inside the MGM Grand Conference Center. The upscale event benefitted the Dave Rice Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and support of health initiatives including developmental disorders such as Autism and other charitable causes throughout Southern Nevada

Kimmel, an avid UNLV hoops fan, entertained guests throughout the night with his celebrated quick-witted humor and crowd interaction. Dave and Mindy Rice, along with former UNLV athletic director of communications, D.J. Allen, each made emotional presentations sharing their personal stories relating to Autism. Notable guests included former UNLV basketball star Stacey Augmon and former NBA star Jerome “Junkyard Dog” Williams, among others.

Nationally recognized speed painter, Tim Decker, performed live creating massive works of canvas art in mere minutes, including depictions of Frank Sinatra and the Statue of Liberty. Both paintings were sold in an exciting live auction, which also featured a backstage pass to “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” golf packages with Coach Dave Rice and an all-inclusive trip with the Runnin’ Rebels when the team travels to play the Kansas Jayhawks in January.

A highlight of the night came when Decker introduced a portrait of Kimmel into the auction, with the bidding starting at $2,500. Kimmel, encouraged by the crowd, proceeded to outbid himself on stage until purchasing the masterpiece for $10,000, all of which directly benefits the Dave Rice Foundation.

Dave and Mindy Rice ended the evening by presenting the Kenny Guinn Award for Commitment to Community to Dr. Nicole Cavanagh, clinical director for Touro University Nevada. Kimmel also received a customized UNLV basketball jersey from Coach Rice and his family.

The successful evening featured a celebrity red carpet meet-and-greet, posh cocktail reception and gourmet three-course dinner and drinks. Guests were also able to bid on a variety of top-line silent auction items including restaurant certificates, hotel packages and signed sports and entertainment memorabilia from Muhammad Ali, Michael Jackson, Bryce Harper, Kimmel and others.
