To
celebrate Chinese New Year and welcome the Year of the Horse, The Meadows
School will perform the traditional dragon parade throughout The Forum Shops at
Caesars. The cast of singers and dancers
includes 120 Meadows students – 60 from kindergarten and 60 from fifth grade
plus the school’s very special guest, founder and Mayor of Las Vegas Carolyn
Goodman.
The
Year of the Horse is considered a fortunate year that brings luck and good
things. This marks the 18th consecutive year The Meadows School has performed
at The Forum Shops for this annual celebration.
This
year’s parade is particularly special as the Meadows School mascot is the
Mustang and it is the Year of the Horse. Adding to the distinction of the day,
two high school seniors will be speaking during the event. These two students
have attended Meadows since kindergarten and both first performed in the parade
at The Forum Shops as kindergartners. Red and gold costumes (Chinese colors of
joy), drums and firecrackers (to keep evil spirits away) will be prominently
featured in the celebratory parade. As
they wind their way through the premier retail destination, they will stop in
front of the Fountain of the Gods to perform.
Performers
will begin the parade near Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab,
continuing throughout the entire shopping center and stopping for a primary
performance at the Fountain of the Gods. Mayor Carolyn Goodman will make also
make remarks at this time.
