Mayor Lee & Rudy |
Aliante
Casino + Hotel + Spa played host for the first time to the 18th Annual North
Las Vegas ‘State of the City’ Address by Mayor John Lee on Thursday, Jan. 16.
Mayor
Lee's remarks included addressing the city’s financial issues, encouraging
unity amongst community partners to attract more new businesses and calling for
a new era of local government to work toward determining the city’s success
within the regional and state government. He also strongly encouraged local
partners to do their part to provide new jobs, a role Aliante has emphasized
with the creation of more than 200 new positions within the last year.
Notable
attendees included Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman; Clark County Commissioner
Tom Collins; Bruce Spotleson, chairman of Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce; Vince
Alberta, vice president of public affairs for Las Vegas Convention and Visitors
Authority; and Rudy Ruettiger, who serves as a motivational speaker and is best
known for being the inspiration behind the 1993 sports classic, “Rudy.”
Mayor
Lee concluded the address with words describing his cautiously optimistic view
of a North Las Vegas supported by a unified community, thanked guests for
attending and left with final remarks of, "Now, let's get to work."
