The
crowds rushed the red carpet as Vegas got Naked! The Golden Gate casino hosted
a viewing party for ScyFy’s new original series, Naked Vegas on November 12.
Girls glad in face and body paint passed out disposable cameras to people that
started gathering at the red carpet on Fremont Street. There were blinding
flashes as spectators became the paparazzi. Derek Stevens, CEO of Golden Gate
Hotel and Casino, a huge fan of the show and recent client of Naked Vegas was
all smiles for the growing crowd at the step and repeat.
“I am
a big fan of the show, I’ve watched the first two episodes and I feel like it’s
a great representation of Vegas and the events that happen here.” Stevens said
of the show. “Everyone wants to know what’s going on here (Vegas) and the show
gives them that.”
The
crowd migrated into the casino to watch the third episode; featuring naked
camouflaged models hired to entertain high rollers for Stevens at The Golden
Gate. Five naked contortionists painted
like a deck of cards were painstakingly created for magicians Penn and Teller.
Artists, Wiser Oner, Nicholas “NIX” Herrera, Heather Aquilera, owner, Kelly
“Red” Belmonte and business manager Drew Maverick sat with fans and watched
their work unfold on screen.
Red
Belmonte started the company in 2000. “A number of artists I knew were starting
to body paint, and well, I am very competitive. I am the only one still doing
it.”, said Belmonte. “I scooped up these artists, Nix, Wiser, Heather and
that’s the story. Drewster, as I call him, we’ve been friends for years. I
can’t do it without him.”
Naked
Vegas airs Tuesday nights on the ScyFy channel. Belmonte says, “I think the
show is amazing for Vegas and shows it in the best possible light. It’s not
pornographic; it’s the natural beauty of a woman’s body. I have two children,
and this is what I want to them to be proud of. I just wish they’d let me be
more me, show my sense of humor, I am more than just the boss.”
