On
Friday, Nov. 1, youth ambassadors and family members from the local JDRF
chapter, the world’s largest supporter of type 1 diabetes research, gathered in
front of Miracle Mile Shops’ blue fountain to kick off the retail center’s
month-long fountain fundraiser. Afterwards, the group received complimentary
tickets to V – The Ultimate Variety Show at V Theater courtesy of David Saxe
Productions.
As
part of its Caring, Giving, Changing community campaign, Miracle Mile Shops’
fountain displays a bold blue hue in between regularly-scheduled shows now
through Saturday, Nov. 30. All change tossed into the popular water feature as
well as the center’s indoor rainstorm will be donated to the local JDRF
chapter. Additionally, throughout the month, Pampas Churrascaria Brazilian
Grille is offering guests who make a $5 donation to JDRF a two-for-one dining special
valid through the end of the month.
Miracle
Mile Shops’ partnership with the Nevada Chapter of JDRF is part of the center’s
Caring, Giving, Changing campaign, celebrating a year of change in 2013. In
addition to monthly fountain fundraisers, the Caring, Giving, Changing campaign
also raises funds for other programs and organizations through community
sponsorships, additional partnerships and a number of cash and in-kind
donations.
About
JDRF:
JDRF
is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents,
and adults with this disease, JDRF is now the largest charitable supporter of
T1D research. The goal of JDRF research is to improve the lives of all people
affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities
for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide
spectrum of partners who share this goal.
Since
its founding in 1970, JDRF has awarded more than $1.6 billion to diabetes
research. Past JDRF efforts have helped to significantly advance the care of
people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific
understanding of T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. More than
80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and
research-related education.
