This
Repeal Day, December 5, The Mob Museum,
The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, introduces its
first-annual Boss of the Bars contest for the area’s vibrant downtown nightlife
scene. Scheduled to take place in the Museum’s historic courtroom at 8 p.m. on
Repeal Day, the event is destined to become the cocktail and spirits industry’s
most hotly anticipated annual competition. The bar with the best
Prohibition-era-inspired cocktail will be awarded the one-of-a-kind Repeal Day
Cup, a custom-designed, monumental trophy to display on its premises for one
full year. In addition, the Cup will be engraved with the winning bar’s name
for all posterity.
Judges
for the contest will include Drew Levinson, director of strategic activation
and master mixologist, Wirtz Beverage; Jolene Mannina, head of culinary arts,
Life Is Beautiful Festival; Michael MacDonnell, director of beverage and master
mixologist, Monte Carlo Resort and Casino; and Al Mancini, food blogger and
writer for Vegas Seven. Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman will present the winning bar
with the Repeal Day Cup, along with an official proclamation from the City of
Las Vegas deeming it the winner of the “Boss of the Bars” contest. In addition
to the Repeal Day Cup and proclamation, the winning bar will receive a
complimentary facility rental at The Mob Museum for up to 100 guests. People’s
Choice and runners-up will receive additional prizes, such as a brand-new iPad
3 and other exciting gifts.
