Sherry
takes center stage this month for Whisk(e)y Wednesday, the popular weekly event
that takes place at Andre’s Restaurant & Lounge.
Every
month, Whisk(e)y Wednesdays showcases different flights, pours and whiskeys.
The warm and intimate lounge is Las Vegas’ only cigar lounge to be connected to
a Strip resort. Comfortably seating up to 35 guests, in addition to housing
Andre’s world-renowned cognac and Armagnac collection, the lounge also features
30 different types of cigars.
October’s
Whisk(e)y Wednesday will educate and entertain guests regarding the effects
certain barrels have on sherry, a fine aged single malt. The flight will feature:
•Aberlour:
This 16-year-old sherry is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and the
finest ex-sherry butts. This maturation ensures the depth of character as well
as the distinctive fruitiness and spiciness of Aberlour.
•Glenmorangie,
Lasanta: The 12-year-old “Lasanta” means
“warmth and Passion” in Gaelic. Elegant but full bodied, this whisky has spent
ten years maturing in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before being
extra-matured for a further two years in Oloroso Sherry casks from Jerez in
Spain
•Dalmore:
This 15-year-old sherry matures in amoroso casks in ApĆ³stoles and accentuates
winter spice, orange zest and the chocolate notes characteristic of Dalmore.
•Macallan:
This 12-year-old rich gold, single malt Scotch comes from one of the Highland's
most respected whisky distilleries. Aged twelve years, this spirit has an
enticing nose of vanilla, ginger, dried fruit, sherry sweetness and wood smoke.
The palate is deliciously smooth, with flavors of rich dried fruit, balanced
with wood smoke and spice. The finish carries notes of sweet toffee and dried
fruit along with the balancing smokiness.
Talisker,
Distillers Edition: The Amoroso Cask- double matured in Amoroso wood is a
multi-award winning Distiller’s Edition from Talisker, the only distillery on
the Isle of Skye. It is a brilliant, bitter-sweet harmony of tastes.
