Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (LVSSR) is postponing the inaugural Rock the Canyon Rally scheduled for Saturday, July 13 through Sunday, July 14, 2013. Due to the Carpenter One Fire, LVSSR has suspended activity since Thursday, July 4.  The family-friendly festival that is presented by Black Patch Motorcycle Club and benefits You Got the Power, a local non-profit, will be rescheduled for later this summer.

Officials at LVSSR report that the Carpenter One Fire has not caused the area any damage, however roads to the area have been closed to the public since July 4.

“LVSSR is focused on providing ongoing support to the U.S. Forest Service and firefighters who are working to contain the fire and protect Kyle, Lee and Trout canyons,” said Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR’s president and general manager.  “We have supplied water from our snowmaking pond to assist in fire fighting efforts during this time of crisis.”

Services at LVSSR will remain suspended until further notice and all resort related updates are available through LVSSR’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.  For more information related specifically to the Carpenter One Fire, including containment, please contact the U.S. Forest Service at www.fs.usda.gov/htnf.

“We continue our commitment to serve the families and guests of Las Vegas in a safe outdoor environment,” said Maria Jose Norero, LVSSR’s director of marketing. “Our mountain community is suffering but we are strong and are working together to face this crisis.”  LVSSR will announce new festival dates in the days ahead on its website,www.skilasvegas.com.
