Alabama Shakes Electrifies Audience At The Pearl In Vegas!

One of the most buzzed about bands in the industry, Grammy-nominated band Alabama Shakes rocked The Pearl inside Palms Casino Resort last night. The group performed “Goin’ To The Party,” “Rise to the Sun” and even pulled out an amazing live version of “Hold On” early on in the set.  Openers New Orleans folk outfit Hurray for the Riff Raff and rock ‘n rollers Fly Golden Eagle prepped the crowd for a night of live music that’s not often found in Las Vegas. A rainy night didn’t keep fans away as they packed the house often cheering and hollering at frontwoman Brittany Howard during songs.

About Alabama Shakes:
In the weeks following the Grammy awards and the band’s appearances on “Saturday Night Live” and “Austin City Limits,” Alabama Shakes’ debut album, Boys & Girls (ATO Records), sold 100,000 additional copies. It is now RIAA Certified Gold.

“Hold On” was voted the #1 Best Song of 2012 by Rolling Stone and the accompanying video has more than 5 million views and is in “Large” rotation on VH1. The track is featured on the 2013 GRAMMY Nominees compilation. “Always Alright” is included prominently in The Weinstein Company's Oscar-nominated “Silver Linings Playbook,” which stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Chris Tucker, and can be found exclusively on the film’s soundtrack.

The band’s recently released iTunes session is available now at itunes.apple.com/us/album/itunes-session/id597675175. Vocalist Brittany Howard teamed up with Ruby Amanfu for a new single, which was produced by Jack White. The pair offers their interpretation of “I Wonder,” originally performed by Sixto Rodriguez, subject of the Oscar-winning “Searching For Sugar Man,” on Side A and duet on Memphis Minnie’s “When My Man Comes Home” on Side B. The single will be released by Third Man Records tomorrow, March 12.

Alabama Shakes – comprising vocalist/guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, drummer Steve Johnson and bassist Zac Cockrell – are based in Athens, AL. The group was named Best Touring Band at the Pollstar Awards, Emerging Artist of the Year at the Americana Music Association’s Honors and Awards ceremony and Best New Artist of the Year at the Triple A radio conference.
