South
Point Arena hosted a private BADASS Dash obstacle challenge for the
After-School All-Star (ASAS) students from Cashman Middle School on Friday, May
24. The students from ASAS, a nonprofit designed to provide children with the
necessary tools they need to have a successful future, spent the afternoon
conquering a one-mile obstacle course designed to teach them the importance of
teamwork as they worked together to overcome unique challenges.
Throughout
the afternoon, more than 50 ASAS students scaled over towering piles of sand,
shimmied through mazes of chains and ropes, climbed across monster vehicles,
crawled through treacherous tires while flinging themselves in the dirt to
cross the finish line. The private challenge, personally designed by the BADASS
Dash team, was created to encourage the students to have fun in a team
environment while using problem solving skills to pass each obstacle.
“Our
partnership with the BADASS Dash team allows people to come together through
fitness to work as a team while supporting the community,” said South Point
General Manager Ryan Growney. “This course is designed to help children realize
their full potential and encourage them to work together while taking part in
something that is not only challenging but also inspiring and fun.”
South
Point Arena hoste the official running of the BADASS Dash Adventure Race and
Obstacle Challenge on Saturday, May 25. The partnership between BADASS Dash and
South Point was founded in an effort to raise funds to benefit The Lili Claire
Foundation, a private medical center dedicated to helping special needs
children and adults with neurogenetic conditions such as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome,
Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome and Autism.
