My
name is Gail Calver. I have dedicated my life to rescuing homeless, unwanted
dogs from all over the US for over 25 years. My rescue,
"Snout-in-the-House", has a nice listing of my many successes. www.petfinder.com/shelters/NY740.html I
love dogs and hate the future they face in kill shelters or out on the streets.
Now I share their fate. After 19 years in my home, I will lose it. Bank of
America is foreclosing and I must leave.
Like
so many hard-working people, I fell on hard times. I became disabled after
hurting my back, I have 3 slipped disks in my back and neck, need replacement
surgery for both knees. I have worked every day of my life, Sometimes two jobs
and now I am only 58 and find myself unemployable.
I
never thought I would be in this situation and, yet, here I am. I will be
homeless and never would have expected that after 25 yrs. of rescuing animals.
I have 4 dogs and a blue and gold macaw that I have had for 24 yrs. Anyone who
rescues or owns pets knows they are yours for life, I will not leave them and
can't leave them. They are my family. I found an RV that is big enough to hold
all of us without tripping over each other and I think my pups will be happy in
it. I have an American Bulldog (Tugboat) an Alapaha Blueblood Bulldog (Madea) a
Great Dane (Charlie) and (Chopper) a mixed breed and they are all rescues that
I fell in love with and adopted personally. And I can't forget
"Sachmo" my parrot.
The
RV is $7000 and I am desperate to raise the money because I have no where to
go.
I am
pleading with fellow rescuers to please help however you can. Forget about me
and save my animals. I have tried making smaller payments to Bank of America
and they send them back. They now want everything or nothing. I can be happy in
the RV trailer as long as I have my "family" but I have to act fast
so the gal who owns it doesn't sell it.
All I
can give is my undying gratitude and the promise that my animals will always be
loved and cared for.
