What
better way to spend today—National Burger Day—than with the Honorary
“Bürgermeister” (German for “Mayor”) Oscar Goodman at Smashburger? He will be
smashing burgers and working the lunch grill, while meeting and greeting
customers.
All
day today, Smashburger will also be giving away free burgers to anyone with the
last name “Burger” or variations thereof.
After
he’s done cooking, Bürgermeister Goodman will sit down and sign copies of his
brand-new book, “Being Oscar,” released May 21 by Weinstein Books. Barnes and
Noble will be on hand to sell copies of the book.
According
to WhitePages.com, there are approximately 21,687 people in the United States
with the last name “Burger” and 1,530 named “Hamburger.” Locally, there are
more than 200 variations of the name as well. Either way, burger lovers with
variations of “Burger” – or Berger, Weinberger, Rosenberger, etc. – in their
names will receive one FREE Classic Smash™ in recognition of the holiday
celebrating America’s favorite food. This offer is valid for redemption at all
Smashburger locations in the United States, including the five locations in
Southern Nevada. Proof of last name is required (i.e. valid driver’s license,
passport or picture ID). Limit one Classic Smash per ID.
Smashburger
is America’s fastest growing, fast casual “better burger” restaurant with more
than 200 corporate and franchise restaurants operating in 29 states and in four
international countries. The secret is in the smash. It starts with 100-percent
fresh, never frozen, Certified Angus Beef that is smashed on a 400 degree flat
grill to sear in its juicy flavor. To further the “better burger” experience,
its delicious burgers are served on a toasted artisan bun and topped with a
selection of the freshest produce, cheeses and highest-quality condiments.
Smashburger’s juicy burgers are served alongside its hand-spun Häagen-Dazs®
shakes, cold beers, tempting sides and regional menu items created to please
the palate.
“Being
Oscar” takes the reader on a tour through organized crime’s inner sanctum and
into the courtroom, where Goodman argued cases about government wiretapping, an
impeachment of a federal judge before the United States Senate, a drug dealer
charged with assassinating a federal judge and the infamous “Black Book,” an
exclusion list that banned targeted individuals from entry into the Las Vegas
casinos. The book also chronicles his three-term run as the flamboyant and
controversial mayor of Sin City. “Being Oscar” was released by Weinstein Books.
