Just
in time for St. Patrick’s Day, the D brings the luck o’ the Irish to downtown
Las Vegas with the return of the blarney stone. Partygoers who celebrated the
festive holiday at the Fitz in years past can still enjoy a wee bit o’ history
by paying a visit to the stone passed down from the new hotel’s Irish-themed
predecessor.
The
age-old Irish tradition requires those who visit Blarney Castle in Ireland to
suspend themselves upside down and plant a kiss on the stone for good luck. If
the feat seems too dangerous, they can just give it a rub. For good luck, the
hotel encourages guests and passersby to stop by the second-floor Vintage
Casino to kiss or rub the stone that has taken permanent residence at Vue Bar.
After
kissing the stone, guests can test their new luck as they try to earn a
festive, green t-shirt that reads “I Got Lucky at the D” by playing their
favorite slots, table games and Keno throughout the month of March.
For
St. Patrick’s Day Weekend, the downtown hotel will celebrate with live
entertainment Friday, Saturday and Sunday night on the Third Street Stage, just
steps away from the D’s entrance on the Fremont Street Experience. On Sunday,
lads and lasses can belly up to LONGBAR alongside leprechauns to enjoy festive
drink specials including $5 Dirty Girl Scout Cookie shots and Irish Car Bombs
and $4 green beer.*
Those
looking to party till the top o’ the mornin’ can choose the Smoking Irish Fog –
a secret recipe served in a 44-ounce goblet.
