"Bodies The Exhibition" Kicks Off National Heart Month With Kissing Booth & More!

Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart: Parade Of Ambulances Delivers Giant To BODIES… THE EXHIBITION At Luxor Hotel And Casino To Kick Off American Heart Month Friday, February 1

Stars from Thunder From Down Under and FANTASY Give Away “Kisses” To Benefit the
American Heart Association on Valentine’s Day

February is typically reserved for romance between sweethearts, but BODIES… The Exhibition at Luxor Hotel and Casino wants to give more than just chocolate this year. During American Heart Month, the Exhibition is giving guests a huge, anatomically correct heart in addition to complimentary health screenings and “kisses” for a cause to promote healthy-heart living.

With the help of Medic West, the 600-pound heart will be escorted down The Strip by four ambulances Friday, Feb. 1, and delivered to the lobby of Luxor where it will stay on display throughout the month.  The 13-foot-long, 7-foot-wide and 12-foot-high heart will be met by Amanda Daniels, spokesperson for the American Heart Association, and more than 100 students from Cheyenne High School. Daniels was diagnosed with heart disease as a teen and will share her personal testimony with the group before joining them on their tour of the Exhibition.  In the hopes of catching any heart-related health issues early, MedicWest is providing complimentary Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose screenings to all exhibition guests from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States – it knows no boundaries and it doesn't discriminate,” said Daniels. “I was diagnosed with heart disease during my senior year of high school and the fear of dropping dead or undergoing a heart transplant consumed every part of me.  Rather than giving up and succumbing to my disease, I fought!  Today, despite being told it may never be the case, I am a mother of two and a survivor living with heart disease.”

For Valentine’s Day, BODIES… The Exhibition is showing some love by making a donation based on the day’s ticket sales to the American Heart Association. To encourage visitors to participate in the fundraiser, stars from FANTASY and Thunder From Down Under will give away one dark chocolate Hershey Kiss for every ticket presented to them from 2 to 5 p.m. at the “kissing” booth.  Lucky recipients will have a chance to win a pair of tickets to FANTASY or Thunder From Down Under if the kiss they receive is one of the dozens that are specially marked.

To further promote healthy living, the Exhibition will have interesting facts from Dr. Roy Glover, Chief Medical Director for BODIES… Exhibition, posted throughout the various galleries that highlight the importance of positive lifestyle choices in relation to how the heart interacts with the rest of the miraculous machine we call the human body.
