Treasure Island "Pirate Gingerbread Ship" On Display!

Treasure Island is getting into the spirit of the season with its gingerbread scene, featuring a ship modeled after Treasure Island's own pirate ship and Sirens Cove.

Sixty pounds of gingerbread dough was made to create the scene and the icing consists of powdered sugar, egg white and fresh lemon. Twenty pounds of isomalt was cooked to use in the creation of the water and windows, while the Santa, reindeer and snowmen figures are made of marzipan.

The ship, base and decor weighs approximately 40 pounds. The ship itself measures 36 inches in length, 15 inches wide and 29 inches tall.  Treasure Island's executive pastry chef Debra Mitchell and her team spent approximately 40 hours creating the scene. It will be on display for the next three to four weeks near the registration desk at the property.
