The
fourth-annual “Reindeer Rock” holiday festival was a huge success, bringing
cheer to underprivileged children of Las Vegas in one of the city’s largest toy
distribution events. Opening the doors
of the Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, “Reindeer Rock” distributed toy
donations from the KLUC Chet Buchannan Morning Zoo Toy Drive to more than 500
children.
Comprised
of over 250 volunteers and all locally donated toys, not only did children
receive presents, but a full-on holiday party.
Dancing and live musical entertainment provided a hands-on,
unforgettable experience. Amongst the 500 toys, Reindeer Rock gave away 62
bikes, which were raffled off throughout the day as an added Christmas surprise
to lucky boys and girls. Families were also allowed the opportunity to get a
family photo taken free of charge with this year’s guest of honor, Santa Claus!
“Over
the past four years, ‘Reindeer Rock’ has delivered presents to more than 4,500
children. We are grateful for our
partnership with KLUC and the Chet Buchannan Morning Zoo toy drive who supplied
ALL of the toys distributed today.
There
is an overwhelming need to lend a hand to underprivileged families in the Las
Vegas valley, particularly during the holidays, and volunteers dedicate their
time and resources to ensure Christmas is merry for all. The year-round planning for this special
gift-giving experience aims to continuously grow “Reindeer Rock” to one day
reach every underprivileged child in the Las Vegas region.
