Poison
frontman and solo artist Bret Michaels rocked Vegas with a massive concert for
thousands of fans to celebrate the grand opening of the D Las Vegas – Sin
City’s newest casino – located downtown on the Fremont Street Experience (FSE).
The reality star took a break from filming “All-Star Celebrity Apprentice”
alongside Vegas’ own Penn Jillette and flew in from New York just in time for
the concert, telling the crowd, “there was no way I was missing the grand
opening of the D tonight!” The star later tweeted a photo of his performance
and said, “We made it in time to rock @thedlasvegas!”
Wearing
his trademark bandana and a black tank top, Michaels opened the show with
classic Poison hits “Talk Dirty to Me” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” in
addition to covers of rock classics such as Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home
Alabama.” Ensuring fans didn’t miss a second of the concert, the show streamed
live on the larger-than-life plasma video wall on the D Las Vegas’ exterior, in
addition to FSE’s massive Viva Vision LED canopy.
The
rocker concluded the set with “Nothin’ but a Good Time.” At the end of the
show, Michaels’ black electric guitar with 1980s-era musician strands was
auctioned off for $3,100 to an audience member. The proceeds will go to
charity. After the concert, Michaels tweeted a photo with the D’s owner: “With
Derek Stevens of the @thedlasvegas @ Fremont Street Experience. You rock my
brother! #LasVegas #Music #Concert pic.twitter.com/vtZoP8L5”
Michaels’
concert was the first part of a weeklong mega-celebration to commemorate the
grand opening of the D Las Vegas. OneRepublic will give another unforgettable
performance on the Fremont Street Experience’s Third Street Stage Saturday,
October 20. The popular American rock band will perform its new single “Feel
Again” as well as its most notable hits including “Good Life”, “Stop and Stare”,
and “Apologize”. The band will release a new album later this year.
About
The D Las Vegas
The
grand opening week celebrates a dramatic transformation more than a year in the
making of the former Fitzgeralds into the D Las Vegas. The sleek new casino hotel
delivers one of Vegas’ only two-level casinos. Guests can enjoy a modern gaming
experience with beautiful dancing dealers on the first floor; and a Vintage
Vegas gaming experience on the second, with an array of coin-operated slots and
the beloved Sigma Derby simulated horse-racing game. Cocktails, beer and frozen
beverages abound inside the casino at LONGBAR – the longest bar in Nevada – or
on Fremont Street at D Bar, where talented, trickster bartenders send bottles
and glasses flying through the air. As seen on the Food Network and Today Show,
Detroit’s iconic American Coney Island restaurant has opened its first location
outside of Michigan at the D, serving up its legendary Coney Dogs. The D also
features 638 new modern rooms and suites; and offers a new take on Vegas’ neon
signage on its Fremont Street façade with an exclusive interactive video wall,
which broadcasts colorful, dynamic content across hundreds of feet of LED
signage and forty giant flat screen televisions. Located beneath the world’s largest
LED canopy on Vegas’ famous Fremont Street Experience, the D sits at the center
of four neon blocks of non-stop party action.
