ABOUT
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS
Stone
Temple Pilots, commonly called STP, celebrate the 20th anniversary of the
release of Core, the group's debut album that featured hit singles "Sex
Type Thing," "Plush" and "Creep." The single
"Plush" subsequently won the group a Grammy for “Best Hard Rock
Performance.” Purple, the group’s sophomore effort, shot straight to #1 on the
Billboard charts and featured the singles, "Vasoline," "Big
Empty" and modern rock classic, "Interstate Love Song."
For
their third album in 1996, Tiny Music...Songs From the Vatican Gift Shop, Stone
Temple Pilots took a Beatlesque psychedelic approach and produced hits such as
"Big Bang Baby," "Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart" and
"Lady Picture Show." The fourth album, No. 4, returned to a more
rock-based sound and spawned one of STP’s biggest hits, "Sour Girl."
Two years later, the group released Shangri-La Dee Da before a brief hiatus and
in 2008, the band regrouped and went back on tour to amazing fanfare. A year
later the band was back in the studio and released a self-titled album in 2010
which reached #1 on the Top Rock Albums chart and #2 on The Billboard 200.
