Top-ranked
haunted attraction Fright Dome at Circus Circus Las Vegas is celebrating a
decade of terrifying fans from around the world. Beginning Saturday, Sept. 29
Fright Dome takes over The Adventuredome at Circus Circus and will partner with
iconic horror film producer and zombie expert George A. Romero to theme one of
its five haunted houses.
Romero
is best-known for his array of ghastly horror films about a hypothetical zombie
apocalypse beginning with Night of the Living Dead which has been hailed a
defining moment for modern horror cinema. Nicknamed the "godfather of
horror," Romero added to his "Dead Series" and again shook the
horror industry with the addition of Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of
the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead.
"For
the past decade we've had one of the top haunted attractions in the nation but
I would have never dreamed that I would have the opportunity to work with an
icon in the industry like George," said Jason Egan, owner and creator of
Fright Dome. "When it comes to zombies and scaring people he's the best by
far. I'm thrilled to have George lend his creativity to Fright Dome and equally
thrilled that Las Vegas has embraced this event every year allowing us to grow
and make the 10th anniversary truly the most terrifying yet."
"I'm
looking forward to working with Fright Dome for their 10th anniversary
year," said producer/ director George A. Romero. "It's been fun to
scare people on the big screen all these years, now I get to do it with the
real deal! It's going to be great to see."
Romero's
zombie themed haunted house will be appropriately name "Ward of the
Dead" and will immerse guests in a real life zombie apocalypse, leaving
them to fend off attacking zombies as they race for safety in Fright Dome's
most intense haunted house in 10 years. In addition to this groundbreaking
theme, Fright Dome will feature four additional all-new haunted houses
including "The Infected," a zombie quarantine area; "Camp
Massacre," a twisted, chainsaw-ridden summer camp; "Fright Dome's
Urban Legends," playing on classic fears; and the "The
Anniversary" which will combine fan favorites from over the past 10 years
of terror at the event.
Dark
and fog-filled, Fright Dome creates a chilling atmosphere with roaming
characters, high-powered strobes, multi-colored lasers and five acres of fright
made up of all new extreme scare zones, rides, 25 attractions and nightly live
stage shows by top-notch entertainers. Egan and his ghoulish cast make their
entrance each event night and at appearances around town in two fully-restored
hearses; a 1968 Cadillac "Executioner" and a monster truck hearse
from Discovery Channel's "Ultimate Car Builds." Over the years Fright
Dome has become a popular stop during the Halloween season for celebrities
including Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, David Copperfield, Holly Madison,
Paris Hilton, Missy Elliot, Kevin Hart, Vanilla Ice, Corey Feldman and many
more.
Fright
Dome is open from 7 p.m. to midnight Sept. 29 - Oct.31 on select nights.
General admission tickets are $37.95 and fast pass tickets are available for an
additional $15 allowing express line entry for all five haunted houses.
