Plan ahead...First Friday Schedule of Events!

The First Friday Las Vegas arts and culture festival continues to draw huge crowds from around the valley and beyond for a night of art, music, food and more. This month, First Friday celebrates the art of acceptance. The next First Friday Las Vegas takes place Friday, September 7, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m.

ARTS DISTRICT HUB
Location: Casino Center and Colorado Ave.
Art Style: Emerging and established artists, arts, crafts
Activities:
6 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. First Friday Las Vegas continues to line the main hub of the event with unique vendors and artists of all genres. To the east of Casino Center on California guests will want to check out the free yoga classes provided by Vegas Hot! (6:30 p.m.), pilates (8 p.m.) and choreographed kettlebell demonstrations with the Barefoot Bootcamp team (9 p.m.). Participants should bring their own yoga mat and towel, water will be provided.

6 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. The Kids Zone is bustling with activity. Interactive art projects with Bricks for Kids Lego Building, Roos-N-More returns with their exotic animals, setting up a petting zoo and educating families about the natural habitats of these animals. The S.I.N.G. Foundation will hold performances. The youth foundation stands for Sowing Into Next Generation and is an outlet to bring positive inspiration through performances to a mostly negatively influenced generation. SYN Shop will also be on hand with interactive projects. SYN Shop is a “hackerspace” based in Las Vegas used for sharing, creation, collaboration, research, development, mentoring and learning. Their motto “Let’s make stuff awesome!”
 

Entertainment:
6 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
Multiple stages with live music and DJ performances.
Golden Nugget Stage: (Casino Center / Colorado)
Lyon’s Den Stage:  (3rd / Imperial)

The 3rd Street Stage will host a performance by HAIR – Let the Sun Shine In from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. A wild tribe consisting of some of Las Vegas’ top rock and theatre performers has joined together to bring audiences a rock concert experience with the classic rock opera HAIR.

Transport yourself back to the 1960s in the interactive concert experience. The cast of HAIR is comprised of performers from Las Vegas Strip production shows, Broadway casts, Cirque du Soleil and rock bands from around the city.
 
DOWN 3RD
Location: Imperial and 3rd Street
Activities:
The delicious food provided by Las Vegas’ best food trucks can now be found on Third Street between Colorado and Imperial. Stop by the bar located on 3rd and Colorado for specialty cocktails provided by Sky Spirits, Jim Beam, Patron, Tito’s Vodka, and Corona or grab a glass of wine in the Lee's Liquor Wine Lounge. 

FREMONT STREET EAST
Location: Get Back Alley located just south of Fremont Street between 6th and Las Vegas Blvd.
Art Style: Street and Interactive Art
Activities: Deriving its name from the long-running and hugely successful DJ funk and soul dance party held every First Friday, Get Back Alley showcases more street art and interactive art to Fremont Street East.

Entertainment:
Music programmed in Get Back Alley from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m.

HOURS OF OPERATION:
6 p.m. until 11 p.m.

PARKING/SHUTTLE:
Shuttle service will run from 5:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.

Four Open Top Sightseeing Shuttles and an additional handicap equipped shuttle will make a constant loop around the entire event route.

There will be ample free parking as well as $5 parking lots.*
*If you park in unauthorized parking areas, you may be subject to towing.  

Fremont Route Shuttle Stops:
* El Cortez- pick up and drop off in front of Get Back Alley event
* Golden Nugget- lobby doors just south of Rush Tower
* Arts District Hub at Colorado and Main

Government Center Route Shuttle Stops:
* Government Center at Rotunda Gallery
* Arts District Hub at Colorado and Main

Additional free parking at City Hall Garage at Stewart and Las Vegas Blvd. (must walk to Fremont shuttle stops)

ABOUT FIRST FRIDAY LAS VEGAS
First Friday Las Vegas has been a mainstay of arts and culture in downtown Las Vegas for nine years. In 2011, just shy of the October nine year anniversary, the arts and culture festival welcomed a new ownership group, First Friday Las Vegas, LLC, comprised of  Zappos.com executives Tony Hsieh, Fred Mossler and Steve Hill, as well as downtown developer Andrew Donner and marketing executive Joey Vanas. The outdoor event features several areas throughout Downtown Las Vegas that showcase artists of all calibers and genres, supplementing with live music, food and other celebratory events.
