Dartmouth
College’s Big Green Bus tour across America will make a scheduled stop at
Flamingo Las Vegas to refuel with recycled waste vegetable oil (WVO) from the
resort’s restaurants. The students will be welcomed by Regional President of
Flamingo Las Vegas, Rick Mazer, along with Flamingo Las Vegas headliner, Donny
Osmond.
The repurposed Greyhound bus features four
sustainability stations for educating communities about biofuel, personal waste
reduction, composting and the energy costs of food. Caesars Entertainment
employees and guests are encouraged to tour the bus during its stop at
Flamingo.
In
addition, “The Road Trip” green drink special will be offered July 18 – 20 at
Harrah’s Las Vegas, Imperial Palace Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas and Bill’s
Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon. The cocktail includes 1 ½ ounces of Bacardi Limon,
¼ ounce of Blue Curacao and pineapple juice served in a tall glass on the rocks
and garnished with a cherry. Pricing is $5 per cocktail.
The converted Greyhound bus, operated by 13
students, runs on 290 gallons of WVO and travels the country seeking to educate
individuals on best sustainability practices like those found at Caesars
Entertainment.
In 2011, Caesars Entertainment recycled
320,000 gallons of restaurant cooking oil to be re-used at its resorts, or
removed and repurposed for use in biodiesel and other products. For the past
two years, Caesars has sponsored the Big Green Bus, helping the classroom on wheels
educate communities about sustainability. This year, 17 properties in seven
Caesars Entertainment regions will participate in educational event
