GO COCONUTS FOR CHIHUAHUAS TO RAISE MONEY IN HONOR OF CINCO DE MAYO!

Coconuts Beach Bar and Mexican Grill www.coconutsvegas.com is devoted to helping the Las Vegas community become a better place! For the entire month of May they are committed to helping raise money and awareness for the beloved Chihuahua breed which originated in Mexico. While there are many different stories on the origins of the Chihuahua one thing is certain they are one of the oldest breeds in the world with remains found dating back to 100 AD! They do come in a wide variety of sizes, head shapes, colors and coat lengths.

They are wonderful companion dogs and do well in either small apartments or houses. However unfortunately here in Las Vegas the Chihuahua remains one the breeds that is euthanized the most. The numbers fluctuate between this breed and the pit-bull.

During the entire month of May, Coconuts will be raising food for three hard working privately funded rescues in Las Vegas. Adopt a Rescue Pet www.adoptarescuepet.org/ is entirely dependent upon donations. They have been rescuing and fostering dogs for over 12 years. Sophie's Chihuahua Rescue www.sophieslittleangels.org/ was founded by two dog lovers and pet industry professionals. They also rely entirely upon donations. The Nevada SPCA, www.nevadaspca.org/a nonprofit organization, operates a no-kill animal sanctuary, promotes humane education, makes referrals for lower-cost spay/neuter and vaccination services, and challenges people to be the best possible guardians for the companion animals in their care. These three rescues are no-kill sanctuaries which mean that they are always trying to find ways to raise funds and other much needed items.

With the decline of the economy many more people have abandoned their pets or are just unable to care for them financially. This is where Coconuts comes in! During the entire month of May bring in your donations! Three cans of 12 ounce sized cans of food or larger or a 15 lb or larger bag of dry food and receive “FREE COVER” for “Go Loco” Ladies Night, Saturday’s hottest Latin Night in Las Vegas, and College Thursdays! Dining in the restaurant? Bring in your three 12 ounce sized cans of food or 15 lb or larger bag of dry food and receive 10% off your entire check! Any other type of donations such as crates, dog/cat supplies would be appreciated, if you wish to contribute financially this would be much appreciated just refer to each rescues website for information.

Also mark on your calendars, June 2nd a fun party will be taking place on the green in Town Square! Details to follow!
