Women’s Day 2012 was celebrated with much fanfare at the Eastern location of MJ
Christensen Diamonds (www.mjchristensen.com.) This is the only nationally
recognized event taking place for the 2nd year in Nevada from the International
Women’s Day Organization (www.internationalwomensday.com/.) International
Women’s Day 2012 motto is“Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures” and with this in
mind MJ Christensen wanted to honor a special woman in the Las Vegas Community
who has gone above and beyond to empower Women everywhere. They did not have
far to look! Honored for her commitment to Working Mothers, was Gina
Robison-Billups who has been requested to speak on several occasions about moms
in business and microbusiness issues, the highlight being at the Women's Summit
with First Lady, Michelle Obama.
Congresswoman Berkley issued her a Congressional Recognition and
recorded a special video message applauding Gina's empowerment of women. Other
Nevada politicians recognized her contributions as well; Senator Reid and
Congressman Heck both sent representatives and Special Recognitions. Gina was
moved beyond words and was very appreciative of these special recognitions!
When asked about what she felt about the awards Gina had this to say “It is an
incredible feeling to be honored after putting so much love and passion and
hard work into helping working mothers fight for equal pay and health care!”
MJ
Christensen’s Cliff and Darlene Miller also showed their respect for the impact
that Gina has had on the Las Vegas community and gifted her with a custom
designed ruby pendant, fashioned after the logo of the non profit she founded,
The International Association of Working Mothers. The handsome and incredibly
gorgeous "Thunder from Down Under" entertainers were on hand to not
only pose for pictures with the attendees but also fasten the glittering ruby
pendant around Gina’s neck. Mr. Cliff Miller gave a speech to thank the Las
Vegas community not only for their generous raffle contributions but also for
their support celebrating International Women’s Day, “We are so honored to be
able to celebrate the 101st Anniversary of International Women’s day and to honor
Gina! Plus, having the store filled with wonderful women contributes to a great
evening!”
Emcee
Heidi Harris worked her special wit and sparkling personality to keep guest’s
attention and welcomed photos with fans. With Heidi’s help selling raffle tickets
for prizes totaling over $15,000 including “Phantom of the Opera” tickets,
spectacular gourmet dinners, and for the adrenaline seekers, flights of Bootleg
Canyon the money raised from 2011’s event was doubled! The winners of several
fine pieces of jewelry including a MJ Signature Diamond Pendant, Philip Stein
ladies watch, and pink and blue sapphire stackable rings by A. Jaffe of New
York City, were literally jumping up and down with delight!

Eccoci
Woman’s Clothing store provided a fun fashion show that had the women’s
attention from the start! The “Find your power thru Fashion” show which
showcased 30+ different looks with 8 pieces of clothing was a crowd pleaser. Featured
on the models was spring’s hottest new color, a bold pink which flatters every
woman’s complexion. Janice Marie Wilson from Eccoci who put together the
fashion show said “I am so honored and excited to be here and to be a part of
dressing women so they feel powerful and strong.”
Women
toasted with Ginatinis and enjoyed delicious appetizers like Maryland Crab
Cakes courtesy of Soirées Catering.
Local business owner Kate Thompson of CupKates tempted the tongues and
resolves of the guests with her sinfully delicious sweets!
Custom
parting gifts were handed out including handmade, recycled paper beaded
necklaces. These beautiful jewelry items are made by hardworking Ugandan women
through the help of International Non-Profit BeadforLife (www.BeadForLife.org.) BeadforLife helped tie the local celebration
across the world to women thousands of miles away! MJ Christensen’s Cliff
Miller has just recently been named to the Advisory Board of BeadforLife, “In
light of KONY 2012, we are happy to announce that guests of MJ Christensen
Diamonds have helped us raise over $100,000 for BeadforLife, the non-profit on
the ground in Uganda serving over 18.ooo women and their families, many of whom
suffered at the hand of the Lord’s Resistance Army.”
A very special night spent with wonderful
women and truly was “Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures!”
