Players will tee off on
February 13, 2012 at The Golf Club at SouthShore in Lake Las Vegas for the
“Golf ‘Fore’ the Love of Pets,” a benefit for Heaven Can Wait Animal Society.
Heaven Can Wait is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission of
eliminating animal and pet overpopulation in Southern Nevada.
The event is an annual
tradition that begins at 8 a.m. with a pre-golf reception. The shotgun start
for the four player scramble tournament on the Jack Nicklaus Signature course
begins at 9:15. The golfing is followed by a buffet lunch and awards ceremony
that includes raffle prizes and a silent auction. Special contests for
participants include “closest to the pin,” “take a shot/make a shot,” and
“longest drive.” A player who gets at hole-in-one will win a new automobile,
courtesy of Findlay Acura. First prize for each player on the winning team is a
3-day/2-night getaway for two with a choice of more than 40 destinations.
The event benefits a great
cause. The majority of the proceeds benefit Heaven Can Wait and help its
mission of controlling and managing the pet population. This is done through
aggressive spaying and neutering at a clinic owned and operated by the
organization, adoptions, community outreach programs and education. 30,000
healthy domesticated animals are euthanized in Clark County each year. Through
its efforts, Heaven Can Wait hopes to drastically reduce that number.
“Golf ‘Fore’ the Love of
Pets” costs $150 per person. Sponsorships ranging from $100 to $2,500 are available, with some including
a golf twosome or foursome. For more information, head to www.hcws.org or call
