On Thursday, May 5, Las Vegas Weekly, Las Vegas’ authoritative weekly newspaper of arts and culture, celebrated Cinco de Mayo by hosting a party for its fans in honor of its 2011 Music Issue. The publication celebrated the dual party with a music-themed bash at the Hard Rock CafĂ© on the Las Vegas Strip. More than 425 of Las Vegas Weekly fans joined the festivities and were treated to complimentary Heineken and Ambhar Tequila cocktails. As a treat for guests, Las Vegas Weekly welcomed local bands A Crowd of Small Adventures, Rhyme N Rhythm and Holding Onto Sound for special performances throughout the night.
In addition, Las Vegas Weekly increased its distribution by 7,000 copies per issue on the same day. A total of 75,000 copies of Las Vegas Weekly will be printed and distributed in the metropolitan area. The additional copies will be offered heavily on Las Vegas Boulevard, augmenting the publication’s quantity that has long been in place off-Strip. With the recent increase, the number of local outlets carrying the free publication has increased to more than 1,800. Beginning with the issue of May 19, the magazine’s cover will be printed on 100-lb. glossy book stock, a substantial upgrade over the previous materials. Las Vegas Weekly’s decision to upgrade its materials is a reflection on the publication’s commitment to providing Las Vegas the latest news and entertainment in the best and most sophisticated format.
