This Memorial Day - The Palazzo Las Vegas Joins with the USO Las Vegas to Honor America’s Deployed Soldiers
Guests can send letters to troops from Memorial Day through July 4
The Palazzo Las Vegas invites guests to send words of encouragement to soldiers overseas while visiting the resort’s waterfall atrium and gardens. Surrounded by more than 1,500 vibrant red, white and blue blooming foliages, the waterfall atrium and gardens will feature two digital kiosks for guests to write letters to deployed American soldiers stationed throughout the world. The United Service Organizations Las Vegas center (USO LV) will distribute these letters written by guests to troops as they deploy, arrive home and while currently overseas. The letter-writing program will run through July 4.
“Our troops make incredible sacrifices everyday for the freedoms we all enjoy in the United States ,” said Doug Bradford, director of USO Las Vegas Center . “Getting notes of encouragement, support and well wishes from home will undoubtedly brighten the day for many of our service men and women who are deployed in, about to be deployed to, or coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan as well as to those serving in other military installations in the United States and around the world.”
“Las Vegas Sands Corporation has long been committed to supporting our courageous troops,” said Andy Abboud, vice president of government relations for Las Vegas Sands Corp. “These kind sentiments from our guests and team members show the true support back home while serving overseas.”
When crafting letters to the troops, guests of The Palazzo Las Vegas will also be able to enjoy the patriotic décor throughout the resort during their visit. A massive American flag, measuring 600 square feet, will be suspended 20 feet above the lower-level fountains while surrounded by dazzling eight-foot firework bursts and red, white and blue decorative streamers lining the upper levels.
Two custom-designed, jeweled American flags measuring 15 square feet, and 3,000 stems of blue Hydrangea and Delphiniums will flank the waterfall; while the atrium and lobby gardens will feature a mixture of Calandiva, chrysanthemums and Phalaenopsis orchids. The atrium fountains will feature three additional American flags measuring 54 square feet, rounding out the overall celebratory and picturesque scene.
The transformation will take a team of 25 gardeners, designers and engineers more than 800 hours to complete. Guests can enjoy the display and write letters to troops between today and July 4, 2011.
