Today (4.13.11), Operation: Blue Takeover took the Las Vegas Strip by storm. In a rare and exciting event, members of Blue Man Group traveled to the Plaza at Fashion Show to celebrate the presentation of their interactive, 15-foot-tall statue. KVVU Fox5’s MORE anchor Arran Andersen hosted the event, capturing the Blue Men discovering and interacting with the state-of-the-art display for the first time. During the event, Andersen hosted a trivia contest and gave away exclusive merchandise. The Blue Men were greeted with cheers as they joined the statue celebration. They interacted with the statue, pulling some members of the audience up to play with the “fan cam.” The Blue Men also used slingshots to shoot t-shirts and Twinkies into the crowd.
To celebrate, a larger-than-life Twinkie cake designed by Freed’s Bakery of Las Vegas was presented to the Blue Men to commemorate their first visit to see their statue. A slice of the cake was offered to Arran with a lit sparkler, which was immediately put out by one of the Blue Men waiting quietly with a fire extinguisher. Complimentary Twinkies, a signature snack from Blue Man Group performances, were passed out for attendees to enjoy.
Designed by YESCO LLC for Blue Man Group Las Vegas, the one-of-a-kind custom statue features two large, high-definition monitors and an interactive fan cam. The fan cam captures video of visitors and broadcasts it live on one of the monitors. The second monitor features exclusive Blue Man Group clips and content from the show.
