XS/TRYST Nightclubs have another record-breaking donation to Annual KLUC (98.5) Toy Drive
It was another historic day for XS/Tryst nightclubs located inside Wynn/Encore Las Vegas on Wednesday as the staff
purchased and delivered a stunning $106,297 in toys and gifts to the annual KLUC (98.5 FM) charity toy drive.
Last year, the XS/Tryst team delivered a whopping $68,429 in toys, clothes, bikes and other assorted gifts to the KLUC event, held at Nevada Power.
This year's donation marked the third consecutive holiday season the Tryst/XS team eclipsed the record for single-largest donation in the toy drive's history. In 2008, the group racked up more than $32,000 in donations for the same event.
The nightclubs' ownership, management and personnel took to the aisles at a Las Vegas-based Walmart, located at4505 West Charleston Blvd. , on Wednesday and spent almost three hours clearing out the shelves in the toy section en route to its record haul.
More than 20 extra Walmart staff members were called in specifically to work the massive shopping spree, according to store manager Mike Lofton. Walmart also dedicated 10 check-out registers to the XS/Tryst staff, Lofton said.
After some serious shopping, which filled up two, 50-foot semi-trucks and resulted in a store receipt that measured more than 100 feet in length, the group of close to 60 staff members' cars and motorcycles was led by two Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department cruisers and a Clark County Fire Department truck to the Nevada Power building, the site of the annual KLUC toy drive which benefits HELP for Southern Nevada - a not-for-profit organization assisting children and families of Southern Nevada.
Prior to the arrival of the nightclubs' staffs, the students of "Future Dance" - a successful program part of Nevada Ballet Theater's Education and Outreach division which gives at-risk children an opportunity to follow their dreams in the fine arts, delivered a special performance at11:15 am . at the site of the toy drive.
The XS/Tryst staff has taken a big role in these at-risk kids' lives as well this holiday season by graciously sponsoring 100 students in NBC's Education and Outreach program and sending them to a performance of "The Nutcracker" at Paris Las Vegas, thus providing a great opportunity for children who can not afford to attend on their own.
