Dinner and a Show at Mandalay Bay – Delicious and Family Friendly!! RM & LION KING!

Fine food and entertainment were enjoyed by I Love Las Vegas Magazine…BLOG staffers at Rick Moonen’s RM Seafood. Afterwards a viewing of the Disney's The Lion King was on the agenda!

Rick Moonen’s RM's menu and decor are impeccable, as is RM Manager Aaron Whitten's polished and friendly staff. Dishes covered a gamut of inspired fusion ranging from a Marinated California Octopus served with sweet peppers, black tomato drizzle, and homemade falafel, to a delicious Rabbit Trio interpolated with morel risotto, crispy rillette, and fried quail egg. Buttery meats impeccably presented are a hallmark of Rick Moonen’s RM Upstairs' upscale environ, also featuring subdued ultra lounge music and blue and wood themes in the decor that put one in mind of a worthy meal aboard a luxury liner. RM's menus offered a several-course option on one side, with a la carte options on the reverse, allowing customization from a quick bite to a decadent and sumptuous repast. The wine list is quite extensive and a diverse selection is available and accompanies each course perfectly.  Fine Champagne and dessert wines are also well represented.

Finishing up dinner is a unique experience of a deliciously inspired tea. It is the center piece and the flavors mix as you dine and then it is cooled instantly with liquid nitrogen and then served. Check out the picture. A cool sipping experience with a hint of mint cleanses the palate perfectly!

Desserts served include the Chocolate Car Bomb and should not be missed! The unusual and creative notes of Guinness’s Ice Cream, Bailey’s Irish Crème and Bear suds put this dish as a lock for one of the  most inspired and memorable dessert of this year.

"Disney's The Lion King" offers a virtuosic blend of music, dance, and topnotch staging and technical brilliance that is not to be missed. The cast's energetic and humorous performance shines with admirable backing by a note-perfect orchestral ensemble complemented by dual side-stage percussionists fluent in such exotic instruments as djembes, berimbaus, and huge Kodo drums. The fourth wall shattered as performers danced and sang through the rows, belting out familiar and energetic tunes, culminating in a standing ovation that was richly deserved by all. The complexity and hard work put into this performance is apparent and so ubiquitous that trying to select a favorite moment in the aftermath of the show begged the question, "Which one?" The Lion King is an experience not to be missed, and is surely one of the most enjoyable family shows on the Strip.

Thanks to our gracious hosts for laughs, a toe-tapping great performance, and an unforgettable dining experience.
