Tonight he will have the world on a string and will walk the Red Carpet at the world famous Caesar’s Palace! The Gossy Room at Cleopatra’s Barge will be turned over to the talented Englishman that has taken Las Vegas by storm, Matt Goss! With his charming style and fabulous voice Matt is sure to delight Las Vegas visitors for a long time. Think Sinatra! Recently the blog had the opportunity to meet a true fan of Matt’s and we asked her some questions!
- How long have you been a fan of Matt's?
I have been a fan of Matt Goss for just over 22 years now.
- What was it like seeing Matt perform in person for the first time?
I was 15 years old and Bros (the band he was in) were in Manchester (UK). Myself and a friend skipped school one afternoon! We knew they were at a hotel in Manchester. So still in uniform we showed up at the hotel! I must point out it was the one and only time I had skipped school and it was to see Matt! Another time was when Bros' concert was sold-out but two more dates were announced. I managed to get tickets for myself and two friends. It was crazy! We got down to the Apollo Theatre in Manchester (UK) before the show, the boys (Bro’s) kept hanging out of a window to wave. Everyone was screaming, chanting and singing and it was truly phenomenal!
Then a friend and I went down to London to stay with her brother in East London. While we were there, we took the tube (underground railway) to Matt and Luke's house to see if they would come out. Unfortunately they were not there that day but we met some other Brosettes (female Bros fans) who lived in London. We were singing their songs and laughing a lot. When Matt's front door opened Matt's Mum Carol and Step dad Tony came out. We chatted to Carol who is a really accommodating, happy, gracious lady. She let us take her picture. You could tell how proud she was to be Matt and Luke's mum. I couldn't wait to get my pictures developed.
- If you could see/meet Matt in person what would you ask him or tell him?
If I met Matt now in person I would ask him what is next on his agenda after Caesar’s Palace and would he like to meet for a drink next time he is over in the UK! LOL.
Also it is wonderful that he has the same sweet character as from 22 years ago. He is a true British gent. Oh and if he remembers the Grolsh bottle tops we wore on our Doc Martin shoes. That was a big Bros thing - a trade mark of theirs.
- What is your favorite attribute of Matt's?
I think I would have to say I adore his sensitivity as I think this is paramount for making excellent music. He wears his heart on his sleeve. You cannot buy this from a shop - you either have it or you don’t. He was a heart throb when he was younger and still is! With his looks and a voice to die for I am sure he will have the world at his feet very soon.
- What is your favorite Matt Goss song?
I don't have a favorite Matt Goss song but I must stress this - his Gossy album is the best he has ever made! I am addicted to it. In order are my favorites off Gossy - Our Time, If We're Lost, Don't Wanna Be Your Angel, Change Me, Evil, Evil(Dave Aude Club Mix), Take Me Home, Firefly, A Song For You, Pins and Needles, Into the Sunset, Along For The Ride, Mr. Read, The Day We Met. I actually feel guilty putting them in order as they are all fabulous. My order preference will probably change next week. As it has done since I got the album off itunes.
Thank you Stella for sharing your memories with us and here’s hoping that you can come to Las Vegas and see Matt perform in his new home at Caesar’s Palace!
(In the photograph it is Stella with dark curly hair. Matt's mum Carole was holding down her hair that was blowing in her face. As you can see it is a happy picture!)
