Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world, and there will be a lot for racing fans and car enthusiasts to see and do when the Super Chevy Show kicks off its 30th season Saturday and Sunday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

One of the bigger attractions during the weekend comes from the GM Performance Division, which will debut a new display trailer at the Super Chevy Show. The trailer, which will feature many GM accessories, vehicles and equipment, is slated to make several appearances at national events throughout the season. But the Super Chevy Show in Las Vegas is considered the perfect starting point.

“Everyone at GM Performance Division is excited about working with the new Super Chevy Show series ownership group, and attending the season kick-off in Las Vegas,” said Craig Shantz, GM manager of product promotion activities and specialty show vehicle builds. “Please stop by our display to take a look at some of the exciting Chevrolet production and show cars that we brought along, as well as crate engines and accessories for the performance-minded.

“The Super Chevy Show series always has been a great place for us to connect with the public and enthusiasts, and we know that there will be a strong contingent of racers, car show, and autocross participants at this first event. These are our kind of people and I am really looking forward to it.”

The GM Performance display trailer will be one of several highlights for the 30th Super Chevy Show season opener.

It begins March 19 with the Original Parts Group Southern California-to-Las Vegas Cruise, where a cluster of Chevelles, Camaros, Corvettes, Impalas, and other Chevrolets will take the road. The cruise will originate at 10 a.m. from the Original Parts Group location in Seal Beach, Calif. The tour will stop for lunch at Peggy Sue's Diner in Yermo, Calif., before arriving in Las Vegas at 5 p.m.

Other highlights include a Test ‘n’ Tune session open to local participants who arrive at the track on Friday, the debut of Green Mountain Monogram (GM's largest merchandise vendor and the new official souvenir merchandise vendor of the Super Chevy Show), upgraded awards for car show participants, the Shockwave Jet Truck, new Shoebox racing class (which features classic Chevrolet entries) and the Autocross (a designed road course where individual drivers are measured by elapsed time on runs of skill and speed). SCCA Autocross champion Mary Pozzi is scheduled to compete in the event and will assist with set-up of the course.
