"We are so grateful to Carlos Santana for his generosity and compassion,” said Andre Agassi. He understands the toll that hunger, poverty and lack of access to education has taken on the world's young people, and he is a living example that 'caring, by definition, means doing'. For more than a decade his Milagro Foundation has made a difference in the lives of underserved and vulnerable children around the world. With Carlos, we believe we can make an impact on what matters most---giving our children the tools to succeed through education and the life choices it allows them to pursue."
During his visit, Santana interacted with students from the Academy as well as select students from Cheyenne, Legacy, Mojave and Sunrise Mountain High Schools, imparting his wisdom during a joint inspirational address with his friend Andre Agassi. In collaboration with Santana’s visit to the school, and continuing in the spirit of supporting The Milagro Foundation, longtime licensees of Carlos Santana, PRS Guitars and Latin Percussion (LP) donated a PRS Santana SE electric guitar and a set of LP Santana Aspire series congas and shakers to the Academy’s music department. Like Carlos, both PRS and LP have enthusiastically partnered with local agencies and community organizations to inspire young musicians. Also, Sony Legacy Recordings who are releasing the 10th Anniversary edition of "Supernatural" have donated 700 copies of the most honored CD in Grammy History, Supernatural, to every student and faculty member in the school.
Carlos Santana’s Milagro Foundation is committed to assisting projects, schools and agencies that are working to support underserved children in developing college aspirations. Agassi Prep continues to achieve this goal with 100 percent high school graduation and college acceptance. “We applaud their efforts and are proud to be a part of this dream for the children of Las Vegas,” Shelley Brown, Executive Director, said. The Milagro Foundation is a publicly supported foundation established by Carlos Santana and his family in 1998. Milagro benefits underserved and vulnerable children around the world by making grants to community based tax-exempt organizations that work with children in the areas of education, health and the arts. The Milagro Foundation is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children. www.milagrofoundation.org
