With rumors that this fight will lead to a matchup with Manny Pacquiao, Ring Magazine’s top pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Mayweather told reporters on the red carpet, “I’ll let the fans rate me on how I did with Marquez and how Pacquiao did with Marquez. Pacquiao is a good fighter; I don’t want to take anything away from him. I want to take it one day at a time and talk it over with my team.”
After posing for photos in a beige vest, suit pants, striped shirt and tie, Mayweather joined his family inside, including recently reunited father Floyd Mayweather Sr., to mingle with his many admirers. Often known for his flashy personality and exuding confidence, the champion was clearly elated with his return to the sport he loves. He reveled in the victory into the early hours of the morning and was overheard saying, “The only thing I want to do is taking the sport of boxing to the next level.”
