In March 1979, Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall opened to the public and became Las Vegas’ first true “locals” casino. Sam’s Town, named after Boyd Gaming’s co-founder Sam Boyd (father of Bill Boyd, the Company’s Executive Chairman), has been embraced over the past 30 years by locals and visitors alike as the premier one-stop entertainment center on the Boulder Strip.
