New Restaurant Coming To DTLV! Evel Pie To Open In October 2016

High Horse, a new hospitality collective based in Las Vegas, continues to build on the success of its first concept, The Golden Tiki, with the announcement of its new restaurant opening, called Evel Pie.

Set to open in October 2016 in the East Fremont Entertainment District, Evel Pie will pay tribute to legendary motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel while serving delicious New York-style pizza by the slice and baked-to-order pies in a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Operated in cooperation with Evel's son Kelly, guests can expect classic pizza flavors and toppings alongside an unapologetic selection of cheap drinks, craft beers and favorite American backyard beers, including Hamm's, Schlitz and Coors.

"Evel was the founding father and the catalyst of modern day extreme sports," said High Horse co-founder and creative director Branden Powers, whose family owned a chain of pizza shops in the 70s.  "He inspired a generation of kids to jump over their neighbors using makeshift ramps. His historic jump over the Caesars Palace fountains solidified him as a Vegas icon, and with the 50th anniversary of that jump coming up in 2017, we wanted to make sure Evel has a slice of Vegas history."

Guests can expect the unexpected as soon as they walk in the doors, as they're transported into a 1979 pizza shop with a few modern touches.  Inspired by the motto "Live hard, ride fast, eat pizza," Evel Pie's design will be overseen by Powers and designer Lieuchi Fine, with the interior featuring pinball machines, Evel memorabilia, Schwinn Stingray bicycles, dogtown skateboards, a bronze statue of Evel himself and a few surprises for which Powers is known.  Music will feature 70s rock, new wave and the roots of hip hop and punk, including Boston, Black Sabbath, Blondie, The Ramones, Beastie Boys and A Tribe Called Quest.

Evel Pie is located at 508 East Fremont Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Enjoy The DC Solar 350 At The LVMS! 146 Laps!

The DC Solar 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 1 will carry some added weight for eight drivers this year.

The 146-lap race is the second of three legs of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chase’s Round of 8 and will be crucial for the eight drivers who have qualified for the inaugural Chase grid. Not only will they be battling for the checkered flag in Las Vegas, but also crucial Chase points as they look to advance in the series’ playoff bracket.

William Byron, Matt Crafton, John Hunter Nemechek, Christopher Bell, Johnny Sauter, Ben Kennedy, Daniel Hemric and Timothy Peters have qualified for the Round of 8, and one of them will become the 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion. Their battle begins this weekend in New Hampshire, continues with the DC Solar 350 at LVMS and moves on to Talladega, Ala., the following weekend.

After Talladega, the Chase field is pared down to six for a trio of races in Martinsville, Va., Texas and Phoenix before the Championship 4 round at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The 2016 NCWTS champion will be crowned there on Friday, Nov. 18.

Of the eight drivers qualified for this year’s NCWTS Chase, only Sauter has won at LVMS. He was the event’s champion in 2009. John Wes Townley won the DC Solar 350 last year, with Peters, Kennedy and Nemechek following in the next three positions.

Fans can buy race tickets online at LVMS.com, by calling 1-800-644-4444. All ticket buyers will have free access to the Neon Garage throughout the course of race day, and the race will be preceeded by the inaugural “350 Fest,” a daylong festival of activities that will include a car show, petting zoo, kids zone, live music, poker run, pet adoptions, raffles and a beer garden.

BLOG FAVE! Adam Ant Coming To The US For "King Of The Wild Frontier" Tour!

Following his recent sold out UK tour, pop icon Adam Ant is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the release of his landmark “Kings of the Wild Frontier” album with a newly-remastered reissue (Sony Legacy UK) and North American tour.  Adam will play the classic album in its entirety, and in sequence, including the first-ever live performance of the track “Feed Me To The Lions”.  For ticket information, visit http://www.adam-ant.com/.

"I'm really looking forward to performing the 'Kings of the Wild Frontier' album live and in sequence plus my other favorite songs from the repertoire, in the USA,” Adam said.

“Kings of the Wild Frontier” introduced the Burundi Beat style of thundering, infectious, Central African drumming to a pop-music audience.  Adam captured the live sound by incorporating two drummers into his band, a musical signature that remains to this day.

In addition to remastering the classic album, Adam personally designed the deluxe box set that includes items from his extensive personal archive and a bonus DVD of the out-of-print “Ants In Japan” concert video.

The platinum album, originally released in 1980, crowned the UK Album Chart and spent more time in the top position than any other album at the time.  The album went on to achieve worldwide recognition and produced massive chart-topping singles including the classic “Antmusic”, the breakthrough tribal onslaught of “Dog Eat Dog” and the epic title track.

The original USA version of the album replaced the track "Making History" with the classics "(You're So) Physical" and "Press Darlings".  The album climbed the Billboard Top 200 chart and produced three Top 20 hits for “Antmusic”, “Dog Eat Dog” and “(You’re So) Physical”.

Sip And Savor Sake At Sushi Roku For World Sake Day On 10/1

This Fall, Innovative Dining Group (IDG)’s Sushi Roku will offer a pair of sake samplers in honor of World Sake Day (October 1), a 1,000 year old annual tradition held in Japan that serves as a tribute to the beverage, and kicks off the country’s sake production season. The samplers will be offered at a 10% discount on October 1, in honor of World Sake Day.

Each sampler will feature three 1½ ounce pours curated by Sushi Roku’s resident sake expert, Gary Min—one with premium selections for the serious sake connoisseur, and the other more playful, featuring fruit-forward options:

Premium Daiginjo Sampler ($39)  Wakatake Onikoroshi, Dassai 23, Kubota Hekiju ß “Daiginjo” is the most premium classification of sake
Flavored Sake Sampler ($21)  Ty Ku Cucumber, Lychee Nigori, Plum Sake

“For the flavored flight, we wanted to include sakes that are different from what we usually have on our list,” says Min. “The cucumber sake presents a clean and crisp, yet slightly sweet flavor that pairs with sashimi and lighter dishes. The lychee Nigori offers a milky texture and sweetness that stands up to sauced and fried dishes, and the plum sake is bubbly and sweet, which goes nicely with dessert.”
