As part of the week long New Year’s celebrations at Hyde Bellagio, on Dec. 30 reality television heartthrob Brody Jenner delivered an electrifying DJ set during “Infamous Wednesdays” alongside DJ Devin Lucien. Opportunity Village was founded in 1954 by seven families who were determined to give their children with disabilities the best lives possible. Now, more than 60 years later, Opportunity Village is one of the most recognized and respected organizations of its type in the United States.

Nevada’s largest employer of people with disabilities (who we call OVIPs), Opportunity Village serves nearly 3,000 individuals annually, providing vocational training, employment, habilitation and social recreation programs and services that make their lives more purposeful and interesting.

Opportunity Village citizens – individuals who were previously considered unemployable – work at Opportunity Village’s Employment Resource Centers and in jobs throughout the community, collectively earning wages amounting to more than $3.9 million in 2014. They are hard-working and diligent, proudly paying taxes and happily leading more fulfilling lives.

Primarily a self-funded organization, Opportunity Village generates the majority of its operational funding through its employment contracts and fundraising efforts such as the Magical Forest and Great Santa Run, saving Nevada taxpayers nearly $35 million annually.

Recording Artist Carly Rae Jepsen Enjoys “O” By Cirque du Soleil®

On January 1st, multi-platinum, Grammy nominated recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen kicked off the New Year at one of the most coveted shows on the Las Vegas Strip: the world-famous “O” by Cirque du Soleil®. Known for her number one hit single “Call Me Maybe,” the young star was in Las Vegas performing for New Year’s Eve when she insisted on seeing the aquatic masterpiece with friends—some of which who had never seen a Cirque du Soleil production before. They attended the show at 9:30 p.m., applauding throughout as the cast performed in, on and above a 1.5 million gallon pool of water. Also in attendance, Grammy award winning artist Britney Spears was seen at the 7 p.m. show on Friday, Jan. 1. The iconic pop star attended “O” with her two young sons Jayden and Sean, treating them to drinks and popcorn as they reveled in the magic of Cirque du Soleil.
