Vegas Had It Coming! Judas Priest At The Pearl
Saturday night, metal legends Judas Priest, along with openers Mastodon, rocked The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort to its core as fans packed the house for a night of metal. Always a showman, front man Rob Halford declared “The Priest is Back!!” and the fans went crazy before the group ripped into a set that included “Desert Plains,” “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming,” and of course, “Painkiller.” This fall tour was due to the overwhelming success of Judas Priest’s 17th studio effort overall, Redeemer of Souls – a release which became the highest-charting album of their career when it debuted on the Billboard 200 charts at No. 6 and also went on to become one of the most critically acclaimed releases of the band’s career.
Comprised of Rob Halford (vocals), Glenn Tipton (guitar), Richie Faulkner (guitar), Ian Hill (bass) and Scott Travis (drums), Judas Priest is responsible for some of heavy metal’s all-time classic anthems.

On the heels of its first, sold-out engagement at Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Reckless In Vegas announces its next Cabaret Jazz show. On Friday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m., the unique power trio invites the public to don its best 1950s and 60s-era fashions for a spirited costume contest to take place throughout the evening’s performance.
Deirdre Clemente, fashion history expert and associate director, public history program, University of Nevada, Las Vegas will judge the contest. The first-place winner will receive $250, the second-place winner will receive $150 and the third-place winner will receive a Reckless In Vegas swag bag.
Reckless In Vegas combines the imagery, banter and classic music from the 1960s “glory days” of Las Vegas with a contemporary rock band aesthetic. It’s not just a band—members Michael Shapiro (band founder, lead vocals, guitar), Ryan Low, aka Dr. Fu (drums, vocals) and Chris Nichols (bass, vocals) have created an exciting show that incorporates their live performances of modern versions of songs by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis, Sonny & Cher, Frankie Valli, Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash and Bobby Darin with dynamic production-show elements. Whether you remember the swinging Vegas lounge era days or were born later, Reckless In Vegas has something for everyone. Video montages, dialogue, humor, modern hard-rocking grooves and tender moments of balladry combine to create a truly original take on this classic genre. Think The Rat Pack meets Green Day.
“Playing Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center is such a thrill for us,” says Shapiro. “Its classic showroom vibe complements our show perfectly—we can’t wait to see our fans and make new ones again in such a distinctive environment.”
Tickets for “An Evening with Reckless In Vegas” start at $35 and are available at The Smith Center Box Office, located at 361 Symphony Park Avenue, by phone at (702) 749-2000 or (808) 326-6868 (TTY) and online at www.TheSmithCenter.com. Early Bird Tickets Now Available For Junior Achievement Event Suite Holidays
'Tis the season to tour the high-roller, exclusive suites money cannot buy—and all for a good cause. Tickets are now on sale for Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada's Suite Holidays, taking place Saturday, Dec. 5, from 3 to 10 p.m.
Now in its fifth year, Suite Holidays is one of the city's premier holiday events, enabling guests to tour Las Vegas' exclusive high roller and VIP suites—the suites not typically accessible to the general public. Guests will enjoy gourmet bites prepared by participating resorts’ chefs, paired with wine or cocktail selections chosen by sommeliers. Complimentary shuttle service is provided between properties. Only 350 tickets are available for this one-night-only event. All net proceeds from event ticket sales, sponsorships, silent auction and raffle tickets directly benefit Junior Achievement.
Participating resorts currently include The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas; The High Roller at The LINQ; Palms Resort Hotel & Casino; Paris Las Vegas and Westgate Resort & Casino. Additional properties will be announced later this month.
"The event was conceived as a twist on a popular fundraiser event held in other cities, which entails touring ultra-exclusive homes. But this is Las Vegas, so why not offer guests the chance to tour the suites we all hear about but never see? These are the suites reserved for high rollers and VIPs and Suite Holidays represents your chance to see them for one night only," says Jodi Manzella, chief operating officer, Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada.
Early Bird ticket prices are $175 per person or $1,500 for a group of 10, then increase to $200 per person and $1,750 for a group of 10 after Nov. 5. To purchase tickets, go to jalasvegas.org/events/suite_holidays.

Visit Bruno Mars! Now At Madame Tussauds In Vegas
International pop superstar Bruno Mars has been immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas celebrating his 30th birthday. The “Uptown Funk” star will be on display starting this Thursday, Oct. 8 inside the "Music Room," which is home to fellow music maestros ranging from Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj to Stevie Wonder.
Bruno Mars is an 18-time Grammy Award nominee and multi-Grammy winner. At the top of 2014, Mars made NFL history with the most watched Super Bowl Halftime Show that amassed a record breaking 115.3 million viewers, all while being the youngest artist ever to serve as the sole NFL Super Bowl Halftime headliner. The critically-acclaimed singer, songwriter, producer and musician has sold more than 130 million singles worldwide and was named Billboard’s 2013 "Artist of the Year." His most recent album, "Unorthodox Jukebox" and his debut album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" have a combined certification total of 94x Platinum worldwide. According to Billboard, Mars scored his first five “Hot 100” No. 1s faster than any male since Elvis Presley. Mars most recently teamed up with Mark Ronson on the smash hit “Uptown Funk.” The international hit single is the longest-leading Billboard Hot 100 of the 2010s and is the 10th single in the Hot 100’s 57-year history to spend at least 14 weeks at Number 1.
Looking at home in front of a keyboard, Mars' figure was created by Madame Tussauds' studio team taking 20 dedicated artists nearly six months to complete. The figure was first sculpted in clay by hand then covered in a plaster cast. Once the clay was removed from the cast, the wax was poured in and allowed to cool. Nearly six weeks were spent meticulously inserting each hair by hand which is customary for Madame Tussauds' studio team. Finally, the figure was fitted with acrylic eyes and teeth, while countless layers of tinted paint were applied to build up skin tones – all to achieve the astonishingly lifelike figure styled to pay homage to Mars’ retro showmanship. Mars personally donated the royal blue jacket that his figure wears.
To purchase tickets to be the first to see Mars and Madame Tussauds' collection of more than 100 figures, go to www.MadameTussauds.com/LasVegas.
