The Chelsea Adds Sam Hunt Performance On December 4
Sam Hunt has been added to the entertainment lineup at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Born and raised in Cedartown, Georgia, Sam Hunt was a gifted athlete all his life. Throughout his college years, Hunt played football and eventually became the starting quarterback at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. During college, Hunt began playing the guitar and writing songs in his free time. After he graduated, Hunt was invited to training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs but decided to move to Nashville instead to pursue a career in country music. After playing a few of his original songs around town, he was quickly offered a publishing deal allowing him to write country songs full-time. After writing Kenny Chesney’s hit song “Come Over,” which landed at No. 1 on the music charts, Hunt shifted his focus from songwriter to solo artist. In 2013, Hunt met Zach Crowell, a producer for the Antioch rap crew, and together they released a free mixtape of acoustic songs called Between The Pines. The songs from the mixtape began averaging over 300,000 streams per day on Spotify, leading Hunt to win the 2014 cycle of Spotify’s “Emerge” program for new artists. Hunt signed with Universal Music Group’s MCA Nashville and released his debut album Montevallo. In 2014, the album debuted at No. 1 on the country charts and features a mix of sounds and styles from the aggressive dance beats of the opening “Take Your Time” to the more melodic “Make You Miss Me.”
Tickets are available online at www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com or through Ticketmaster at 800.745.3000.

LV's Karen Nava Wins Prestigious 2015 Avero Award
| Karen Nava |
The annual experience sends one deserving ECF scholarship recipient, along with their respective mentor, to New York City for a four-day immersion into the food and beverage industry. The selected student earns the opportunity to meet and learn from leading chefs, managers, restaurateurs and hoteliers while visiting some of the city’s most prominent dining establishments. Nava will enjoy New York City from Monday, Aug. 17, through Thursday, Aug. 20, alongside her ECF mentor Ana Marie Mormando. Mormando serves as general manager of The Mansion at MGM Grand and has been vice president of ECF for the past three years, joining more than 25 other leading hospitality and food and beverage executives that make up the ECF Board.
“I am very excited to expand my hospitality education outside of Las Vegas and get an in-depth look into one of the world’s busiest cosmopolitan cities,” said Nava. “I’m thankful to ECF and Avero for the opportunity and look forward to learning as much as possible and bringing that knowledge back to Las Vegas to share with my peers.”
The Avero Restaurant Education Experience has been awarded exclusively to ECF students since its inception in 2010. As part of the trip, Nava will meet with the Avero executive team to learn how the company’s restaurant software technology helps food and beverage operators improve efficiency and guest experience and drive profits.
“Avero is committed to supporting ECF’s mission of mentoring deserving students pursuing careers in our industry,” said Damian Mogavero, CEO and founder of Avero. “We hope that the Avero New York City Restaurant Education Experience will have continue to have a lasting, inspirational effect on these students and many others for years to come.”
Nava is pursuing a career in hospitality management at UNLV and is a leader in numerous extracurricular activities: President of the school’s chapter of National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH), Founder of UNLV’s DECA chapter, and Director of Public Relations for UNLV’s Human Resource Student Association (HRSA). Offering a masterful medley of iconic works from the 20th century’s greatest choreographer, George Balanchine, NBT performs A Balanchine Celebration on Nov. 7 and 8. This exciting trio of ballets, complemented by a full orchestra, begins with one of Balanchine’s most meaningful and historical works, Serenade, the first ballet he choreographed in America. Following Serenade, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue – a Las Vegas premiere – ushers in Broadway dreams, Russian dancers and the Mob from the classic Rodgers and Hart comedy On Your Toes, which demonstrates Balanchine’s triumphs on both stage and screen. A celebratory finale of romance and love set against a city skyline completes the evening with Who Cares? where the bubbly Americana songbook of George Gershwin is brought to life with colorful ensemble dancing, romantic duets and sparkling solos.
Las Vegas’ most beloved holiday tradition returns in December with NBT’s The Nutcracker, choreographed by Artistic Director James Canfield. This larger-than-life production beautifully fills every inch of the Reynolds Hall stage, for which it was specifically created. With eight performances from Dec. 12 through Dec. 20, and a full orchestra, a cast of over 100 performers will bring to life to what the Las Vegas Sun calls “the most visually beautiful production ever staged in Reynolds Hall.”

Original choreography, commissioned each and every year of the collaboration, is created by the artists themselves and showcases the perfect package of ballet, contemporary, and modern dance infused with acrobatics. Audience members who attend A Choreographers’ Showcase are in for a bold, one-of-a-kind, and awe-inspiring performing arts experience.

Performing Duo Matt & Kim Stop By 8/13 At Foxtail Pool Club
Be sure and stop on by for Matt and Kim's upcoming performance at Foxtail Pool Club at SLS Las Vegas next Thursday August 13. The indie dance duo will be bringing their high energy live show back to Vegas where they were a highlight of last year's Life Is Beautiful fest. You can see the fan comments via Twitter below from that show. Photo attached.
Matt and Kim aka Matt Johnson (keys/vocals) and Kim Schifino (drums) released their 5th LP 'New Glow,' an album of undeniably catchy beat-driven anthems with hooks that just don't stop! In a new feature on the Brooklyn duo, Rolling Stone hails 'New Glow' is "an eclectic, cheery record that draws from EDM, hip-hop and even punk" and praises Matt and Kim's live shows as "high-energy, mandatory-fun live performances." Matt and Kim also made a return to national television with performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Last Call With Carson Daily.
Lyric video for 'New Glow' album track "Get It" is an awesome look at how completely alive every single Matt and Kim show is and it's a great preview of the sound of the new album... raw exuberance, bombastic beats, sing-along refrains and dance-ready anthems abound, only on a bigger scale than ever before.
