The Year Of The Goat Celebration Debuted At The Venetian! Colorful!

The Venetian and The Palazzo welcomed the Year of the Goat on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, with a traditional lion dance and eye ceremony. Mr. Sheldon Adelson, chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corporation, along with his wife, Dr. Miriam Adelson were in attendance to paint the eyes of the dragon and ceremoniously bring it to life, kicking off Chinese New Year 2015.

Also in attendance to usher in the new year were president and COO of Las Vegas Sands Corp., Rob Goldstein, president and COO of The Venetian, The Palazzo, and Sands Expo, John Caparella; president of international marketing, Larry Chiu; and senior vice president of operations, Pete Boyd.

Dancers from the Yau Kung Moon Lion and Dragon Dance Team from Los Angeles and San Francisco paraded through both properties, blessing the baccarat salons in the casinos. The colorful event featured a parade of dancers and drummers dressed in authentic costumes who made their way through The Waterfall Atrium of The Palazzo to bring good luck throughout 2015.

Other celebratory visuals include a “Year of the Goat” display inside The Waterfall Atrium & Gardens of The Palazzo.  To commemorate the “Year of the Goat” the resort’s floral and horticulture department partnered with a team of artisans, and consulted with a feng shui master, to produce the massive “Year of the Goat” art installation. Because the “Year of the Goat” also celebrates sheep and ram, the art display features beautifully sculpted figures of each. Guests are encouraged to revel in the enchanting beauty of this display when strolling through The Waterfall Atrium & Gardens of The Palazzo.
In addition, guests can also marvel at the 58 traditional I Ching coins, representing fortune and wealth, which sit among the mountain of the main art installation. The Chinese symbols on the coins read, “may your happiness be according to your wishes,” and the reverse of the coin reads, “live as long as the tortoise and the crane.” According to custom, it is suggested that guests walk clockwise around the feature display three times to bring blessings of heaven, earth, and mankind upon them.
This year’s “Year of the Goat” art installation features:

3 unique hand-sculpted, life-size rams
8 hand-sculpted sheep adorned with fleece of fresh carnations
6-foot hand-loomed brocade silk and jade and red and gold lanterns
58 I Ching coins
8 Bamboo Trees
28 Tangerine Trees
2,400 selected plants including
Phalaenopsis orchids
Cymbidium orchids
Kalanchoe
Hyacinth

The Year of the Goat art installation will run through March 9.

Cesar Milan Show Taped Live In Vegas Premieres Tonight On National Geographic

Last year, Cesar Millan (@cesarmillan) proved once again that he is the leader of the pack when it comes to rehabilitating dogs and training people, with the successful launch of his new Nat Geo WILD series, Cesar 911. And now, for the first time, Nat Geo WILD brings to the small screen Millan’s live stage show that has traveled the world, in a two-hour special, Cesar Millan: Viva Las Vegas!, premiering Friday, Feb. 20, at 9/8c, before the return of Cesar 911 the following week on Friday, Feb. 27, at 9/8c. The special was filmed at The Pearl inside Palms Casino Resort. Channel 68 here in Las Vegas on Cox Cable.

Over the past two decades, Millan has rehabilitated dogs and changed owners’ lives for the better. He empowers dog owners to build strong, healthy and happy relationships with their beloved canine companions using a time-tested formula of exercise, discipline and affection. Millan has inspired viewers around the globe, through his television series and his live stage show Cesar Millan: Leader of the Pack, which has sold out arenas worldwide.

Nat Geo WILD obtained exclusive access to film Millan’s first live stage show in Las Vegas — the only U.S. stop on his 2014 world tour. Filmed at the Palms Casino Resort, Cesar Millan: Viva Las Vegas! goes behind the scenes as Millan entertains a live theater audience who lined up for the chance to see him in person. And we get a front row seat at canine auditions as Cesar’s team selects a few fans who get the opportunity of a lifetime — to interact with Millan, one-on-one, live on stage! In a monumental television event, Millan says “TSSST!” to Sin City, and captivates a live audience like you’ve never seen before.

Each week on Cesar 911, Millan travels to a new neighborhood in desperate need of his help. He is summoned by co-workers, relatives, friends and neighbors who “blow the whistle” on a four-legged menace that has turned their lives upside down. Right from the start, the stakes are higher than ever for the dogs, owners and communities Millan is brought in to assist. The dog owners he encounters are stressed out, nervous, terrified at times, and feel out of control. Each episode, Millan packs in practical tips and valuable insights to help loyal fans and new viewers alike.

Cesar 911 and Cesar Millan: Viva Las Vegas! also premiere on Nat Geo Mundo in March. Cesar Millan: Viva Las Vegas! will air internationally in 133 countries and 37 languages. Cesar 911 will premiere as Cesar to the Rescue internationally in 133 countries and 37 languages. For more information, visit www.natgeowild.com and www.cesarsway.com.
