GEORGIA ON MY MIND: Celebrating the Music of Ray Charles was welcomed by The Venetian Las Vegas with a star-studded event coinciding with the birthday of Ray Charles. The groundbreaking new show features a host of esteemed stars including Emmy award-winner Clint Holmes, 10-time GRAMMY award-winning vocal group TAKE 6, six-time GRAMMY nominee and DownBeat artist of the year Nnenna Freelon, and Stella Gospel Award and GRAMMY award-winning saxophone star Kirk Whalum. The show also features the Las Vegas Mass Choir, under the direction of James R. Smith and Edie Aikels, and features the Las Vegas All-Star Big Band, under the direction of pianist and conductor, David Loeb.

The Las Vegas entertainment community came together to welcome the show to The Venetian Theatre. New Singer Ferra Has Fun In Vegas At TAO Nightclub!

Friday night, singer Ferras hosted his official after concert party at TAO Nightclub. Ferras, the opening act for Katy Perry’s Prismatic world tour and first artist signed to Perry’s Metamorphosis Music record label, took over a VIP table with a large group of friends. Ferras and friends, including several dancers from the Prismatic tour, toasted to the great night and celebrated late into the night to the sounds of DJ Politik.

American talent manager Larry Rudolph, who is best known for managing Britney Spears, arrived with showman and comedian, Jeff Beacher and a few friends. The group noshed on signature selections prepared by Corporate Executive Chef Billy DeMarco including: Kale Salad, Ricotta Gnocchi and Pizza while sipping on vodka Red Bull cocktails, Coronas and tequila.

Also spotted dining at the restaurant was former Major League Baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves, Greg Maddux, and English actor and model, Alex Pettyfer. Before attending the UFC 178 fight, Maddux and his friends enjoyed Kale salad, Ricotta Gnocchi, Pizza and Sliced NY Strip Steak paired with vodka Red Bull cocktails, Coronas and red wine.

Looking For A Furever Companion? Melody Meadows Is A Sweetheart Lovely Dog That Needs You!

What can I say about this little pom mix girl. She has come a long way and is now ready and healthy and would love to have her own family. We are still not sure what happened to this gentle sweet girl, she was either mauled by another dog or even maybe a coyote. She was in the shelter in California and was transported here to Las Vegas in June. After her wounds healed Melody went in to be spayed and she had an infected cervix. This little one was meant to survive and make someone’s life complete. She is approximately 7 years old and weighs 12 pounds.

After much love and good food Melody is very happy and cavorts with much glee!! She loves to be petted and will sit by you. Melody happens to be deaf so you need to communicate with her in front of her where she can see you. Her coat is growing in slowly and for now she sleeps in her dog bed with her little blanket covering her. She has a little dress which keeps her warm and that will come with her.

Should you decide to give this sweetheart a forever home you will be rewarded with much love and gratitude from her little heart. She is potty trained to go outside and has had a full dental and gets along with other dogs. Melody is fully vaccinated.

Miss Asian Las Vegas Contestants Party At TAO!

Thursday night, Miss Asian Las Vegas hosted their official pre-party at TAO Nightclub. Reigning Miss Asian Las Vegas queen Catherine Ho enjoyed dinner with the entire group of contestants vying for the 2014 title inside TAO Asian Bistro. Ho then made her way upstairs the nightclub where she and a group of fellow current title holders took over a VIP table to host the kick-off celebration. The group included 2013 3rd runner up Connie Tsang, Miss Congeniality Grace Choy, and Miss Photogenic Michelle Jeon. The ladies danced the night away and enjoyed the sounds of DJ Five.

Autumn Is Here In Vegas! GREAT Atrium Display At The Palazzo PLUS Green & Eco Friendly

In celebration of autumn, The Palazzo Las Vegas will feature an encore of its award-winning atrium display Fall Into Sands ECO360°, an innovative and entertaining display featuring the industry-leading sustainability efforts of The Venetian and The Palazzo.

The visually spectacular and eco-minded fall display fills The Palazzo Waterfall Atrium and Gardens. The picturesque scene, on display through Nov. 10, honors the Sands ECO360°program, a strategy that was born at The Venetian and The Palazzo and drives the company’s environmental initiatives.

The encore display also celebrates the 2014 Diamond Plantscape Award from the Plantscape Institute of America (PIA), which was awarded in honor of the original 2013 Fall Into ECO 360° installation. The annual awards program recognizes and celebrates excellence in the interiorscape community, including commercial enterprises with in-house horticulture departments and conservatory venues. Interior plantscaping is the practice of designing, installing, and caring for living plants in enclosed environments, including commercial and residential buildings.

“We are excited to be recognized this way by our peers,” said Dana Beatty, director of floral and horticulture at The Venetian and The Palazzo. “Our vision was to provide a well-designed installation that showcases the resorts’ sustainability efforts and creates an environment for an enhanced guest experience.”

Surrounded by fall colors in the foliage of native trees, flowers, and plants, this season’s display reuses materials found on the property to reflect some of the environmentally-friendly programs:

·        Greener Suites:

The Infinity Pond features a bed made of cut flowers, succulents, and grasses representing the stunning suites of The Venetian and The Palazzo, each designed with high performance and sustainable functionality in mind. Energy-efficient lighting is installed in all of the suites – 50 percent of which is the latest LED technology. More than 3,000 sensors are installed in The Palazzo suites to adjust the temperature automatically according to guest occupancy. These suites also feature a master light switch, enabling guests to conveniently turn off all lights when leaving. Guests can also participate in sustainability efforts by choosing to reuse towels and linens through the Eco Linen program.

·        Sustainable Food and Composting:

The Recycled Forest made of construction debris, 70 percent recycled steel, bottles, wine corks, and soaps represents the range of the properties’ sustainable catering menu options, including organic and local food, sustainable seafood, fair-trade coffee. The composting program at the resort launched in 2012.

·        Alternative Transportation:

The 1934 Hudson car centerpiece was transformed using succulents, lichen, moss, grapevine, and approximately 5,000 drought resistant plants. This centerpiece represents the properties’ alternative transportation programs. RTC’s ClubRide rewards commuters for carpooling, biking, or taking public transportation to get to and from work. A valet bicycle parking service with secure bike racks is provided. Preferred parking for hybrids, alternative fuel vehicles, and carpools is available in both garages. The properties also provide Electric Vehicle charging stations and three Tesla-specific charging stations for employee and public use.

·        Water Conservation:

The East Garden Nano filtration system display represents the properties’ water reclamation system that recycles 5 million gallons of nuisance water a year for horticulture use. This system saves millions of gallons of potable water each year, allowing the properties to be “off the water grid” for horticultural needs, and has recently been expanded to be used for filling feature fountains and external cleaning.

·        Recycling:

The West Bed Chocolate Cosmo Flower display, made of motion-censored flowers opening and closing in harmony, represents structure coexisting with nature. The Venetian and The Palazzo are known as one of the largest recyclers in Las Vegas, recycling not only food, cardboard, glass, plastic, paper, and metal, but also batteries, electronic waste, corks, cooking oil, and many other commodities. A recent dock remodel and improvements in the internal recycling procedures – such as implementing more upstream sorting practices – has improved The Venetian and The Palazzo’s recycling rate, including a unique profit-sharing incentive program that rewards recycling dock employees for increasing the recycling rate.

Recently, the meetings complex that includes Sands Expo and the Congress Center at The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas  further redefined itself as a true industry leader by being named the first venue in the world to achieve the advanced “level two” industry certification for environmentally sustainable meetings, events, trade shows and conferences.
