Hakkasan Restaurant Will Celebrate Golden Week 9/29 - 10/12

This autumn, Hakkasan Las Vegas Restaurant at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino will celebrate the annual Chinese holiday Golden Week Monday, Sept.  29 through Sunday, Oct. 12. To mark Golden Week, the restaurant will feature a limited edition chef’s menu. In addition, guests who dine on the specialty menu will receive an exclusive takeaway gift in celebration of the holiday.

Golden Week is considered to be China’s biggest annual national holiday, spanning seven days in October where all workers are given three days of paid time off. Consequently it is a popular period of time when the Chinese travel significantly around the world to experience luxury offerings. Traditionally Golden Week takes place October 1 through 7; however, Hakkasan will be offering the dedicated menus for a longer period of time to accommodate all travelers.

International Development Chef Ho Chee Boon has created a special menu to cater specifically to traditional Chinese tastes. For parties of two or more, the set chef’s menu is $138 per person and includes Peking duck with Tsar Nicoulai Reserve caviar; dim sum platter; braised whole seabass in claypot; spicy Szechuan rib-eye beef with enoki mushroom; roasted crispy chicken with wild mushroom in oyster sauce; crispy prawn with dried chili and cashew nut; fried rice with diced abalone, and to finish, black sesame and chocolate dumplings with ginger and yuzu tea. A box containing hand-made golden macarons are given at the end of the meal for each guest to take home as a gift.

To ensure the experience in the restaurant is enjoyable, Hakkasan has Cantonese-speaking staff on-site and in reservations, and accepts China Union Pay, the Chinese credit card of choice. Menus and websites will be Cantonese translated and staff will be fully trained in Chinese etiquette.

In addition to Hakkasan Las Vegas Restaurant, several Hakkasan restaurants around the world including London, Shanghai, Beverly Hills, Miami, New York and San Francisco will also be celebrating Golden Week with exclusive menus in order to provide the experience to Chinese nationals who are traveling elsewhere. Each participating restaurant’s menu will vary and offer a slightly different twist tailored to each location.

FREE Movie! Start Of Radical Movie Night On 9/12!

September 12th marks the debut of Las Vegas' own Radical Movie Night, hosted by the Sunset Activist Collective. This will be a monthly free showing of either a documentary or a movie with significant social value.

This weekend (Saturday, Sept. 6) "Divergent" star Theo James was spotted enjoying a night out at Hakkasan Nightclub at MGM Grand. In town for a boys weekend getaway, the handsome actor arrived to the nightspot just before midnight and took his place in a VIP booth located on the main stage. In awe of the energy of the main room, the group immediately got the party started as they began dancing to the beats of rising turntable sensation Martin Garrix. Taking a break from his busy filming schedule for the upcoming "Divergent" sequel "Insurgent," James was seen fully enjoying his night out as he sipped cocktails and mingled with guests as they passed by‎ before making his way out around 3 a.m.

Earlier in the evening Hakkasan Las Vegas Restaurant hosted the English heartthrob for a pre-nightclub dinner while he enjoyed the company of a few close friends. Sin City Opera Presents "The Magic Flute" Coming To Downtown Vegas! FREE!

Sin City Opera presents a modern day version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute titled The Magic Flute on Fremont, sponsored by Zappos Family of Companies.  With the characters and story inspired by historic Las Vegas, The Magic Flute on Fremont will be a family friendly introduction to this operatic classic.  Sung in English by the top operatic talent of the Las Vegas valley this free event is part of SCO’s dedication to educating the Las Vegas community in the operatic arts.

A story of magic, cronies, and true love conquering all, The Magic Flute transports us into an enchanted world where good faces the forces of darkness. Under the musical direction of Jack Gaughan, Sin City Opera presents an original take on the story with signature staging by SCO Artistic Director, Skip Galla. Packed with exquisite singing and stage wizardry by Bill Smith and Magic Ventures and introducing the corps de ballet under the direction of Mary Aluas, Artistic Director of The Pink Tutu Ballet, Mozart's delightful blend of high comedy and serious drama will enchant young and old alike.  Skip Galla directs, promising a lively and approachable adaptation of Mozart’s brilliant classic opera.  “This free admission outdoor show is part of our education outreach to our community, an excellent and easy introduction to opera as we know it today in our fair city,” states Skip Galla.
