Enjoy The Super Late Model Series At The Bullring LVMS!

Four-time track champion Scott Gafforini won’t debut his new NASCAR Super Late Model car during the Labor Day Weekend Special at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but there will be a fresh Super Late Model on the track this weekend that is sure to catch fans’ eyes.

Chris Trickle, the grandson of former track champion Chuck Trickle and the nephew of the late Chris Trickle, will carry on the family tradition when he straps himself behind the wheel of the No. 70 Trickle Racing entry Saturday night for his debut in the Super Late Model series. Trickle, who has been competing in Legends Cars since 2012, won the Bandolero Bandits track championship in 2010.

Trickle had been unable to compete in the SLM division until he turned 14 on August 19. Justin Johnson broke in the black car with blue, orange and white accents on July 3 and led 73 of 76 laps en route to a victory in the 76-lap main event during The Bullring’s annual Night of Fire.

Gafforini, on the other hand, will continue to drive the 17-year-old Super Late Model that he has piloted to 56 career victories. He had planned to have his new car finished in time for Saturday’s race, but will instead postpone its debut.

“We’re almost done with the new car,” Gafforini said. “I finished the wiring last weekend and we’re just waiting on the new body.” In the meantime, he said, “I’ll check the oil (in the old car), dust it off and that’s what we’ll be racing Saturday.”

Gafforini returns to The Bullring after the summer break with five victories and a 20-point lead over David Anderson in the SLM standings. Dennis Rock Jr., who has two wins this season, is 27 points behind Gafforini in third place.

NASCAR Grand American Modifieds, Bombers, Super Stocks, Legend Cars and USAC HPD Midgets will join the Super Late Models on the 3/8-mile paved oval on Saturday. Sunday’s card will feature NASCAR Grand American Modifieds, Bombers, Thunder Cars, Legends, Bandoleros and USAC HPD Midgets.

Spectator gates for the two-night Labor Day Weekend Special will open at 6 p.m., qualifying starts at 7:15 and racing begins at 8 both nights. As always, The Bullring will offer $1 hot dogs and Coca-Cola products and $2 Budweiser beer at its concession stands.

Fans can save money by purchasing tickets in advance by calling the LVMS ticket office at 702-644-4444 or visiting www.lvms.com.
