Cabo Wabo Cantina inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood will host action-packed viewing parties for upcoming headliner Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fights.

The Strip-side party destination will serve as an ultimate fighting headquarters for both UFC 177 on Saturday, Aug. 30, and UFC 178 on Saturday, Sept. 27. Cabo Wabo’s exclusive new upstairs lounge, The Loft, will show each championship bout on two 180-inch projector screens along with a number of high-definition flat-screen TVs. This summer, an unmistakably tropical vibe will come to downtown Las Vegas when The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, hosts “Hot Havana Nights.” On Thursday, August 7, from 6 to 10 p.m., guests will celebrate everything vibrant about Cuban culture, including its delectable cuisine, the sounds of Latin Jazz by Space to Pace Cuban Latin Trio and dances such as the Tango and Conga. Exhilarating casino games including blackjack, roulette, craps and baccarat will be available, as will tropical cocktails and a cigar bar from The Spirit of Cuba. The evening is inspired by the decadent Havana resorts of the first half of the twentieth century, which attracted everyone from celebrities and scions of industry to middle-class vacationers. Visitors were drawn to Havana by its permissive, sun-soaked, indulgent atmosphere—comparable to the one eventually associated with Las Vegas. By the 1940s, all Havana’s major resorts and casinos were run by U.S. Mob families from Chicago and New York, representing another dynamic replicated a few years later in Las Vegas.

A variety of items from Cuba’s heyday as America’s playground are on exhibit at The Mob Museum.  Objects on display include photographs, a 1958 issue of Life magazine containing an exposé on the “U.S. Gambling Mob in Cuba,”  artifacts from infamous Havana hotels, casinos and cabarets such as the Nacional, Tropicana, Sans Souci, Casino de Capri and Hotel Habana Riviera.

Coming Up! 2014 Gus' Beer & Bites At The Pub At The Monte Carlo

The Pub at Monte Carlo invites guests to enjoy pub-style food offerings while tasting sought-after brews at the remaining events in the 2014 Gus’ Beer & Bites dinner series. During each monthly beer pairing dinner, The Pub at Monte Carlo Executive Chef Damis Irizzary and a representative from a featured brewery guide guests through a five-course menu, complete with beer pairings, creating a fun, interactive evening.

Gus’ Beer & Bites dinner events are held one Wednesday per month at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $64.05 per person all-inclusive and may be purchased on Monte Carlo’s website or by calling Monte Carlo Concierge at 702-730-7010 or The Pub at 702-730-7421. Guests must be 21 and older to attend.

The dinner begins with a reception located on the second level of The Pub’s dining room. As guests mingle, carefully paired hors d’oeuvres complementing the evening’s first beer selection are served. Diners are soon escorted to their seats and presented a second craft brew selection as the seated portion of the culinary experience commences. At the beginning of each course, Irizarry provides specific information about each dish and intricate pairing. Guests also are introduced to a brewery representative who shares stories and flavor notes about each craft beer selection. With an emphasis on interaction, guests are invited to write down interesting facts throughout their dining experience and ask questions as The Pub’s staff members and brewery representatives visit each table.
