Observations of this special day began in the early 1900’s. As the age of industrialization swept the world it brought with it an awareness of woman’s rights and encouraged women to speak up and be the voice for change. Here in Las Vegas MJ Christensen has been celebrating this day for the past three years. Past honorees include famed international jewelry designer Judith Conway and Las Vegas’ Gina Robison Billups. This year MJ Christensen is proud to honor Opportunity Village’s Associate Executive Director Linda Smith. Opportunity Village is Nevada’s largest organization that assists people with intellectual disabilities. For more than 30 years Linda has infused OV with her humanitarian spirit and helped raise over $100 million dollars to build the OV campuses and employment resource center that has served thousands of disabled people. A strong believer in the community spirit, Linda also offers to mentor other non-profit organizations and help them thrive and grow.

As with the past celebrations live performances and refreshing beverages and delicious food will be a part of this special evening. Making a special appearance will be OV’s Roaring Thunder Percussion Team! Their last performance was for The King Elvis Presley’s Birthday and had Las Vegas locals enchanted.

A $20 entry will include one raffle ticket with 100% of the proceeds being donated to Opportunity Village. Attendees will sample tender succulent chicken satay sticks in peanut sauce, beef tenderloins with Basile Crème and heirloom tomatoes on herb crostini bread. A delicious assortment of fine cheeses along with refreshing orange, or cucumber or lemon water will be sure to please the palate! Making a grand appearance will be the unveiling of the “Opportunitini” made with World Spirits Gold Winner Tito’s Handmade Vodka. A fine assortment of white and red wine will also be available for sipping.

Everyone is a winner at MJ’s International Woman’s Day party! Gift bags will be passed out to the first 125 attendees to RSVP and will have Pink Papaya body butter, Kellie Davies MS, The Naked Executive, a leadership and communication book. Other fun items will be included in each bag. Raffle prizes include an MJ Signature Diamond Pendant valued at $2000, a “Staycation” at the World Famous Golden Nugget with a two night stay, dinner for two and show tickets! Since the purpose of the night is not only to honor Linda’s contribution to our community but also to raise awareness for Opportunity Village, dessert will be the favorite OV cookies! These are baked by Cookie Crafters who joyfully bake them. The cookies make wonderful gifts and can be ordered online or delivered in town for orders of $35 or more. They also come in cookie tins which are adorned with delightful artwork created by the artists from OV’s Fine Arts Program. Also for dessert Pop Shoppe Gourmet Chocolate Covered Popcorn! Friday night at Meatball Spot at Town Square Las Vegas was the hottest hangout in Sin City with a room full of famous diners including UFC fighter, Frank Mir, boxing legend, Leon Spinks, and boxing referee, Joe Cortez.

On a date with his wife, UFC champ, Frank Mir, noshed on Pellegrino's Meatball Sampler. Mir commented on how much he loves all the signature sauces Pellegrino has put together, especially the Spicy Meat Sauce.

Leon Spinks and Joe Cortez, had a feast while at a business meeting with Alex Choko to discuss his new book "The Future of Boxing." The duo sampled each of Pellegrino's meatballs and sauces, as well as her signature sides, such as the Mac and Cheese and Garlic Parmesan Fries. Spinks commented on how much he loved the atmosphere and service, while Cortez indulged in a Classic Chocolate Milkshake.

On Saturday night, successful hip-hop star turned business mogul Xzibit hosted a private, invite-only affair at Hyde Bellagio in Las Vegas to celebrate the launch of his newest business endeavor, Bonita Platinum Tequila.

The star, who endorses and co-owns the premium beverage line, was joined at the Sin City Hot spot by numerous celebrity friends including Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.

Looking stylish in a tuxedo, Xzibit greeted and posed for photos with his guests before joining the celebration inside where he caught up with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and other friends at an intimate table tucked in a corner.

Xzibit’s guests sipped specialty Bonita Platinum Tequila cocktails such as the X-tini while they enjoyed unrivaled views of the famous Fountains of Bellagio.

At the conclusion of the private event, clubgoers flooded the venue ready for a night of fun. Xzibit and a small group of friends settled into a plush VIP booth beneath Hyde’s dramatic fireplace where they continued to enjoy the night.

Later in the evening, Xzibit surprised the packed nightclub by jumping on the mic from the DJ booth. “I am so excited to be launching Bonita Platinum Tequila here tonight at Hyde Bellagio. Make some noise!” He said before rapping alongside beats spun by DJ Konflikt. Virgin Records’ Ron Fair also treated the crowd to an impromptu rendition of a song from Xzibit’s latest album, Napalm. They then returned to their VIP booth where they continued to celebrate into the early morning hours.
